In 2024, Paramount greenlit a sequel to Alexandre Aja’s 2019 survival horror hit, Crawl. It’s now been confirmed that Mason Gooding (The Gates) and Emily Rudd (One Piece) will star in the follow-up film!

Crawl takes place in Florida during a Category 5 hurricane that traps a father, Dave (Barry Pepper), and daughter Haley (Kaya Scodelario) in a house. Things go from bad to worse when a few alligators decide to start hunting them as well. Aja directed from a script co-written by Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen (The Unheard). It raked in $91.5 million on a budget of under $14 million, so of course we are getting a sequel.
Aja will return to direct the follow-up and will be co-writing the script with Grégory Levasseur (2012’s Maniac), Andrew Deutschman, and Jason Pagan (Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension). This upcoming movie will tell an all-new story about a family dealing with gators in New York after a hurricane.
Aja is producing the film alongside Craig Flores and Sam Raimi. Levasseur and Zainab Azizi executive produce. Production will start in Hungary later this month.
This early into production, a release window has not been set just yet for Crawl 2. We’ll keep you posted on updates as the project develops. You can check out the trailer for the first film below:
