Harry Hamlin (“Mad Men“) has joined the cast of the upcoming AMC series “Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches.” Hamlin will be playing esteemed lawyer Cortland Mayfair. A character that’s described as obsessive in his pursuit of power, money, and life.
“From Mad Men to Mayfair, we’re delighted to have Harry back at AMC joining a cast that will bring to life the captivating world and cast of characters that Esta, Michelle and Mark have beautifully adapted for our second series in the Anne Rice universe,” President of Entertainment and AMC Studios Dan McDermott said of the news. “Harry is an immensely talented and seasoned pro and we can’t wait to see what he’ll bring to the intricate role of Cortland Mayfair.”
Alexandra Daddario stars as Rowan Mayfair. The series will center on Rowan as she discovers her family’s dark and troubling history. The show is based on the novels written by the late Anne Rice.
While speaking to Collider when the series was greenlit, showrunner Esta Spalding and executive producer/writer Michelle Ashford had this to say:
“The world of witches has fascinated and terrified for centuries, and yet Anne Rice’s particular lens on witches explored something new altogether – women who are powerful, and often brutal, and always committed to subverting our current power structures.”
“Anne Rice’s The Mayfair Witches” will be the second series in AMC’s Rice universe. It will be following their “Interview with the Vampire” tv adaptation which will debut on AMC and AMC+ later this year.
