When AMC announced they had picked up the options for pretty much all of author Anne Rice‘s iconic tomes, we were absolutely ecstatic. Rice, who’s impactful “Interview With The Vampire” sort of started a creature of the night modern renaissance, created rich worlds with dark and beautiful (albeit whiney) characters.
The deal wasn’t JUST for “Interview With A Vampire” and corresponding titles (like “Vampire Lestat,” “Queen of the Damned,” “Armand,” and more), but also included “The Mayfair Witches” series, which [SPOILER] does eventually tie into the Vampire Chronicles.
Today’s news, shared during AMC’s TCA presentation, included confirmation that a writer’s room for a yet-to-be-greenlit Mayfair Witches project had opened. “Masters of Sex” Esta Spaulding and Michelle Ashford have been named as writers and executive producers of the possible series. If the series *is* ordered, Spaulding would serve as showrunner.
We’re not gonna lie- the Mayfair Witches will be a hell of a thing to adapt for television. Supernatural elements, ghosts, incest and more will certainly fill any voids tent pole series like “Game of Thrones” left in the zeitgeist.
We’ll let you know what we hear about his and other projects, and of course, any news on the Vampire Chronicles series.
