Funko is the latest to capitalize on Netflix’s “Squid Game” with a new group of Pops. Figures include Players 281 (Cho Sang-Woo), 001 (Oh Il-Nam), 199 (Ali), 067 (Kang Sae-Byeok), and 456 (Seong Gi-Hun).
Player 456 comes with a tiny adorable (or horrifying) dalonga. Player 199 is holding the bag- if you know, you know. We can’t quite figure out what Player 067 is gripping.
Wanting more anonymity with your Funko Pops? Fear not, you can also buy a Masked Worker with the circle. Walmart will be exclusively carrying a supervisor Masked Worker with the square symbol. Or you can get an enforcer figure with the triangle markings exclusively at Funko.com.
Sadly missing from this first batch of pops are characters like The Front Man and the Red Light, Green Light doll. Also what we wouldn’t give for a Gong Yoo slapping Funko Pop.
More “Squid Game”!
We aren’t expecting the flood of “Squid Game” merch to let up any time soon. As we’ve previously mentioned Netflix has their own licensed merch. With Halloween fast approaching we’re expecting to see a bevy of official and unofficial tracksuited trick or treaters.
In fact if you are feeling in the spooky Squid spirit and live in the Atlanta area one organization is holding their own version. Substituting paintballs for more serious punishments, 200 players will be eligible to compete for a $5000 prize. We don’t know how safe or even fun the games will be in Atlanta. The group is emphasizing that it’s “not a party” and it takes place on October 29, 2021.
We’ll stick to a much more adorable and safe prize in the form of the Funko Pops. The figures measure about 4-inches tall. You’ll have to wait until May 25, 2022 to actually get your hands on the “Squid Game” Funkos. You can find some great Funko pops and more at https://www.theamazingcollectables.com/ if you’re looking to expand your collection as well!
