Emma Stone Reportedly Also Contemplating Disney Lawsuit

Following yesterday’s news that Scarlett Johansson had filed suit against Disney for breach of contract re: “Black Widow” releasing digitally (read that here), and the House of Mouse’s response (read that here), there are rumblings of another leading actor contemplating similar actions.

The Hollywood Reporter editor Matt Belloni in his newsletter “What I’m Hearing” indicates sources for the possible considerations of Stone suing Disney.  “Emma Stone, star of ‘Cruella,’ is said to be weighing her options,” Belloni writes.

Screen Rant claims to have “an inside source,” also indicating Stone considering her options to follow suit (all the puns intended), for the dual theatrical and Disney+ streaming release of “Cruella.”

CAA, notable giant talent agency, is also making noise about going after Disney, for revealing Johansson’s salary publicly. Bryan Lourd, Johansson’s agent, offered a statement to the New York Times, reported here by Brooks Barnes.

"The company included her salary in their press statement in an attempt to weaponize her success as an artist and businesswoman, as if that were something she should be ashamed of."

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
