SYFY Releases “Chucky” TV Series Teaser, Release Date

We are delighted to share the first look at SYFY’s upcoming “Chucky” tv series, from original “Child’s Play” creator Don Mancini! If you’ll recall, the murderous doll franchise was the latest to suffer from multiple rights holders trying to get projects off the ground (think 2019’s “Child’s Play” reboot which Mancinci had nothing to do with).

This series though, happens to bring “Chucky’s Daddy” (Jennifer Tilly‘s words to us at the Saturn Awards) Mancini back to the fold, as well as the original voice of Chucky, Brad Doriff (who confirmed to me personally he would be returning for the project years before the show was greenlit).

ANYHOW, the big news here is a poster, teaser, and release date for the show! While speaking to Entertainment Weekly this morning, Mancini offered some insight into the series:

“The main character is a 14-year-old gay boy who’s bullied and sort of lost after the recent death of his mother. He’s a young artist [making] sculptures with doll parts. He finds Chucky at a yard sale and buys him, but it turns out that he gets much more than he bargained for.

One of the things I wanted to do was bring [the franchise] back to its Child’s Play roots and have the protagonists [be] kids. But since, with the first couple of movies, we’d already delved into having little kids I wanted to explore something different, so this time we’re exploring young teenagers.”

So, without further ado, here is the teaser!

Chucky” is set to premiere on October 12th, 2021.
