From Jor-El to Zeus: Russell Crowe’s “Thor” Role Revealed

Leave it to Russell Crowe to break his NDA with Marvel Studios. I mean seriously, out of all the actors involved with the various films and projects, he’s the one to let a secret slip?! Isn’t that Tom Holland‘s job or something? We digress.

The Oscar-winning actor will be joining Chris Hemsworth in the upcoming “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which will be the second MCU film directed by Taika Waititi. No one really had any idea who Crowe might be playing. Especially after Christian Bale was confirmed to be Gorr the God Butcher.

Is he maybe just offering his voice to a character? Or maybe joining the acting troop headed by Sam Neill and Matt Damon we first met in “Thor: Ragnarok?” We know they’re making a comeback in this film, so that makes sense.

Crowe, Aussie to the core, spilled the mythological beans himself while chatting with Australian radio station Joy 94.9:

“I’m going to get on my bicycle and I’m going to ride up to Disney Fox Studios. Around 9:15, I shall be Zeus! It’s for Thor. It’s my last day of Zeus-ing about and I’m going to enjoy it.”

We do have to say, Russell Crowe REALLY looks the part of Marvel Comics’ Zeus.

Whaddya think? Good casting or GREAT casting?

We’re really looking forward to seeing “Thor: Love and Thunder” when it hits theaters on May 6th, 2022.
