Christmas is coming! And with that sentiment the editors of Nerdbot officially request one of these amazing sounding KitKat bars. These new KitKats have been aged in whisky barrels from Islay, Scotland for 180 days! Making them sound absolutely delicious.
Japanese patissier Yasumasa Takagi is calling this high end snack whisky barrel-aged. He’s been called the Willy Wonka of KitKats and for good reason as almost every fancy flavor is due to his beautiful mind.

The process is nothing short of amazing, and a LOT of work went into making these candies. First they placed the cacao nibs into the barrels which were once used for aging whiskey. Then they would go barrel by barrel and rotate it so that the nibs inside would come in contact with the barrel giving them that great whiskey taste.
The end result is a bitter taste for “adults who can enjoy the delicate aroma and taste of whisky.” They chose a mellow tasting cacao from Ghana which makes it perfect for blending with the complex flavors in the whisky barrels.

These KitKats will be available starting December 15th, 2020 in the seven Chocolatory boutiques across Japan. Each will be priced at 300 yen, which is $2.88 USD. If you know anyone in Japan you can ask to send you some of these you’re going to want to quick. These are only being sold in winter due to the rarity of the cacao used in the KitKat. And once they’re gone we may have to wait an entire year to maybe try them again, assuming they make these an annual thing.
