VFX Company Says Amazon’s “Wheel of Time” Coming in 2021!

It’s been a little bit since we heard anything concrete about the upcoming Amazon series “Wheel of Time,” based on the Robert Jordan-created Brandon Sanderson-completed franchise. Topping a reader poll for the most anticipated new series, “Wheel of Time” has been on our minds since word first came down about the show.

Cut to today, and this tweet from Scanline VFX, that they’re currently in production on the show, and that it’ll be released in 2021.

    https://twitter.com/Scanline_VFX/status/1272538115786211329

Scanline is the company behind some of the biggest productions’ visual effects, including “Game of Thrones.” They also just recently confirmed their involvement in James Gunn‘s “The Suicide Squad” for Warner Bros. Pictures, among other titles.

Rosamund Pike stars as Moiraine, Josha Stradowski will be playing Rand Al Thor, Marcus Rudda will be playing Perrin Aybara, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve, Barney Harris as Mat, Madeleine Madden as Egwene Al’Vere, Daniel Henry will be playing Lan, Hammed Animashaun as Loial, Alvaro Morte as Logain Ablar, Johann Myers as Padan Fain, Alexandre Willaume as Thom Merrilin, and Michael McElhatton as Tam Al’Thor.

The fantasy epic is set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it. The story follows Moiraine, a member of the shadowy and influential all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women. Moiraine believes that one of them might be the reincarnation of an incredibly powerful individual, whom prophecies say will either save humanity or destroy it. The series draws on numerous elements of European and Asian culture and philosophy, most notably the cyclical nature of time found in Buddhism and Hinduism.

We REALLY hope this is true, and that Amazon confirms this. Having something like “Wheel of Time” to look forward to would be amazing right now.

She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
