Top 5 Vacation Destinations For Your Inner Nerd

Everyone loves a good vacation. It’s just an added bonus if those trips can feed our inner geeks at the same time. Now, for those bitten by the travel bug, it might be tempting to go place-hopping and check out many places at once. In that case, what better than renting a private jet? Long-haul commercial flights can be a pain sometimes, so if you’re looking for a much more personalized experience, then Jettly may be a company to keep in mind. That said, here are five destinations to consider for your next nerdy vacation.

    Hobbiton, New Zealand

Any fan of The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings can appreciate this vacation destination! Visit the gorgeous rolling hillsides of the Shire and take a picture at the front door of a Hobbit hole. Learn quirky facts about the filming process and end the tour with a drink at the Green Dragon Inn. New Zealand is a beautiful place to visit, Hobbiton aside. When you’re done with the Hobbiton tour, the island has much more to offer. Traveling farther down the island will bring you to various Lord of the Rings filming locations, such as Isengard and the Lothlorien Forest.

    Dubrovnik, Croatia

Croatia is a beautiful vacation destination on its own. The experience can only be enhanced by a visit to Dubrovnik, a filming location for the Game of Thrones series. Take a walk through King’s Landing, while admiring this historic city and geeking out at the same time. Perhaps take your own walk of shame (or not, that might be frowned upon).

    Hawaii – Literally Any Island

As if anyone needs more of a reason to vacation in Hawaii. The island chain has been used in so many movies and television series. Any movie/tv buff will find excitement within their vacation there! Kualoa, on Oahu, is home to filming locations used in Jurassic Park, Godzilla, and Lost. You can find Raiders of the Lost Ark and more Jurassic filming location on the island of Kauai. Throw a dart at a map of Hawaii and you’ll probably find yourself in a scene from your favorite movie.

    Tikal Park, Guatemala

I’ve always been a sucker for a vacation that has some historical value. Tikal Park in Guatemala is home to Mayan temple ruins surrounded by lush vegetation. It’s also the setting for Yavin 4 – a jungle-covered moon which homed a Rebel Alliance base in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Take in history and movie culture simultaneously at this beautiful vacation destination.

    England

Usher yourself around England on a Harry Potter themed vacation! Christ Church College and Cathedral, Gloucester Cathedral, and Lacock Abbey served as filming locations and inspiration for Hogwarts. If planning all that travel isn’t quite your thing, you can take the Warner Bros Studio Tour, for a more laid back approach.
