No need to worry about coal in your stockings, just Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He’s reteaming with “Jumanji” director Jake Kasdan again for a new holiday film. Amazon Studios has swooped up the rights to the film. The story comes from Hiram Garcia who just so happens to be President of Production for Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions. The film will be a family friendly action-adventure comedy. It’s hoping to shoot in 2023 which means expect no earlier than a 2023 release date. The prolific and legendary (we will defend this to the end) actor will star in “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.” There he will take on his most significant role ever: that of himself. The Academy Award-winning actor will be portraying a “stylized” version of himself. In this multiverse, Cage becomes a CIA informant in order to mitigate some of his debts. Stephen Park has been doing a lot with a little screen time for decades now. His latest appearance is in Wes Anderson’s latest film, “The French Dispatch.” You may recall him first entering the scene on the sketch show “In Living Color.” The brainchild of the Wayans Brothers, the show was a starting point for the likes of Jim Carrey, David Alan Grier, Jamie Foxx, and even Jennifer Lopez has roots on the show. Ryan Gosling’s “Wolfman” project with Universal has shed it’s previous director. Leigh Whanell was originally attached to the project but departed earlier this year due to scheduling conflicts. “Blue Valentine” helmer Derek Cianfrance is now joining instead. Gosling and Cianfrance had previously teamed up for both “Blue Valentine” and “Place Beyond the Pines.” Cianfrance is already penning the script so this would be adding more responsibilities.  Universal Pictures had previously been trying to set up their Dark Universe. Netflix has finally dropped the full trailer for their live-action “Cowboy Bebop!” Whatever happens, happens.
