Jason Momoa and his family were forced to evacuate their homes after severe flooding hit Hawaii. He, along with many other families were moved to a safer spot on the islands. This is one of the worst natural disasters that the island has seen in over two decades. The flooding which was caused by intense storms and heavy rainfall caused widespread damage and power outages. Emergency evacuations occurred across O’ahu’s North Shore and beyond.

The storm prompted large-scale evacuations impacting thousands of residents. It also raised concerns over potential dam failure and other infrastructure damage. Authorities in the area described the flooding as the worst in more than 20 years.

Gov. Josh Green said there no deaths had been reported or people unaccounted for during the flooding. Over 200 people have been rescued and less than a dozen presented at hospitals with hypothermia.

Momoa shared updates as the storm unfolded and confirmed that he and his family were safe. He made it clear that others were not as fortunate. He highlighted the devastation impacting local communities with many damaged homes, flooded roads and hundreds of others needing rescue.

“I got my family with me. We got out of the North Shore, a lot of people have been asking,”

“Our power went off. We’re safe for now, but there’s a lot of people who weren’t, so we’re sending all our love.”

“The North Shore is pretty gnarly right now. So hopefully everyone’s safe and getting out,”

    “Stay safe out there.”

Momoa said in an expired Instagram Story.

Momoa used his platform to shift the focus onto others trying to help keep them safe. Reports indicate that he participated in relief efforts including organizing food distribution for displaced families. He’s a good guy that much is clear.

As Hawaii continues to recover, Momoa underscores just how widespread and serious the disaster has been. Affecting both everyday residents and high-profile figures alike.
