Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

This just in-“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” one of our favorite 80s films, is getting a spinoff! We all remember the valets who take Cameron’s (Alan Ruck) father’s car for a joyride, right? Well, we’re about to learn a whole lot more about them in “Sam & Victor’s Day Off.” “Cobra Kai” creators Jon Hurwtiz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald are producing for Paramount. Another dojo member Bill Posley (“Bitch Ass”) will be penning the screenplay. No word on possible cast or a director yet. This story is developing…

We are absolutely delighted to share the news that Emmy winning composer Bear McCreary’s score for Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is available now! “I’m trying to honor the legacy of what Howard Shore created, and to do so by using those epic colors, and crafting 15 new themes that can be added to the pantheon of memorable melodies that started with Shore’s films,” McCreary said. “I’m a huge fan of the J.R.R. Tolkien books, of the legendarium, the mythology and the Peter Jackson films. They were, in a way, at the nexus of…

Ok so this doesn’t REALLY count as a Rick Roll because we made it VERY CLEAR in the headline what you’ll be seeing/hearing. The one and only Rick Astley has recreated his iconic “Never Gonna Give You Up” music video for AAA Insurance, who have been using the tune in their ads for several years. It’s kind of awesome. Also, don’t forget someone took the time to update the original music video in 4K! Truly an important project.

I was a latecomer to AMC’s “Better Call Saul,” having throughly avoided “Breaking Bad” for my own personal life experience reasons. Someone who’s opinion I trusted implicitly told me to try “Saul,” that I would LOVE “Saul,” and they were not wrong. Two episodes in- I was in love. The cinematography, the writing, the CHARACTERS. This was a show I could (and did) fall hard and fast for. I mean how could you NOT just go head over heels for a scene like THIS? For someone like Rhea Seahorn? For Patrick Fabian (who has been posting some WONDERFUL bts photos),…

Imagine taking almost 50 years to apologize for something. We’re not talking spilling someone’s drink, or breaking a curio accidentally. We’re talking the Academy’s terrible treatment of Sasheen Littlefeather at the 1973 Oscars. Littlefeather, who is First Nation Apache/Yaqui/Ariz, was invited to the ceremony by honoree Marlon Brando. The “The Godfather” star did not attend the awards that night, but had Littlefeather accept the award on his behalf. Once she exited the stage, she was jeered and threatened by Academy members and others also in attendance. One story from the evening has western film star John Wayne “being physically restrained”…
