Cronies of Aspiring Dictator Make Vague Threats About Demolishing Kennedy Center

We at Nerdbot believe that news should be a matter of fact and not opinion. When a story is being reported on, it should be removed of bias and personal perspective. Journalistic objectivity is incredibly important when you are reading information. Having said that, there is a point in time where you have to take a stand against tyranny. That’s why we’re comfortable in stating that the recent actions at the Kennedy Center are beyond the realm of normalcy, decency, and democracy. This madness needs to end.

    The Ongoing Kennedy Center Mess

We’ve stated this before and we will do so again for emphasis. Truly great leaders do not build monuments to themselves; they build up other people. History has shown how authoritarians and dictators are the ones who plaster their name and image everywhere. When it comes to the Kennedy Center, Trump wants his name on it. It was originally opened back in 1971 in honor of John F. Kennedy. Congress determined the name and it has been ruled upon in court that only Congress can change it. That was the subject of a June court ruling. Trump couldn’t demand his name be put on it by executive order. So, he got rid of the presiding board, installed his sycophants, and had them try to change the name.

Since Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that illegal, Trump and his board of followers have been attempting to subvert that ruling. Now, they’re trying to put the phrase, “Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump” on the building. That’s how desperate they all are to get Trump’s name on it. It’s sickening. Disgusting, sickening, and shameful. Trump’s doing it to flex his power. The board is doing it to pay tribute to the despot and stay in his good favor.

    Strong Arm Tactics

To that end, now they’re making threats. It’s the equivalent of, “If Trump can’t have it, no one will.” The board is basically saying that the building is “embarrassing to the nation’s capital” and a “sick and poorly run facility.” It’s so bad according to them that if Trump isn’t allowed to push through his renovations, bad things will happen. What bad things? Well, according to the board, “the center will deteriorate further into an unsafe, decrepit structure that will be required to be taken down…” Then they went back in a statement and just described that as a hypothetical situation.

Tell us that doesn’t sound like a protection threat in a Mafia film? “Oh, look at this little shop you own. Would be a shame if you didn’t pay someone to protect it. Who knows, building might get knocked down. You know, hypothetically speaking.” It has that ring to it, otherwise why are you even bringing that up? That’s not normal conversation. We highly doubt the Kennedy Center is in that kind of state of repair. What we have here is the petulant whining of people who aren’t getting their way. They wanted Trump’s name on the Kennedy Center building, artists refused to perform there, and now the board is retaliating back by threatening to take it all away.

Here’s a performance art piece for all you board members.

There once was a board hired by Trump
When his popularity needed a bump
So, they gave him their word
They’d be part of his herd
Cuz his legs were too withered to hump
