Some news from Middle-earth this morning- Ciarán Hinds has reportedly joined the cast of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power!” No stranger to genre television, Hinds starred as Gaius Julius Caesar in “Rome,” King-Beyond-The-Wall Mance Rader in “Game of Thrones,” as well as more recently in Kenneth Branagh’s Oscar-nominated film, “Belfast.”He’ll be joined in season 2 by Rory Kinnear (Skyfall, Spectre) and Tanya Moodie (Sherlock, Motherland), as well as additional new cast members Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb, Kevin Eldon, Will Keen, Selina Lo, Calam Lynch, Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia…

We are so very sorry to report the sudden and untimely passing of Lance Reddick. Probably best known for his role in landmark television series “The Wire,” Reddick was a staple of genre fare as well with roles in “Resident Evil” for Netflix, as well as the “John Wick” film franchise.He had reoccurring roles in such series as “LOST,” “Fringe,” “The OZ,” and “Bosch.” Reddick did not attend the “John Wick: Chapter 4” premiere earlier this week.Reports indicate he passed of natural causes, and was found in his home. TMZ first reported the news.

This just in-not only is newly-Oscar nominated actor Barry Keoghan apparently in talks to join Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator 2,” but someone else is, too. The great Denzel Washington is ALSO reportedly in talks to join the sequel. Paul Mescal is set to lead the film. He’ll play Lucilla’s (Connie Nelson) son Lucius, who is the nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). Paramount Pictures has already put a release date on the long-gestating project of November 22nd, 2024.This story is developing… 

How incredible to see Bruce Boxleitner, TRON himself, help open the newest ride at Walt Disney World. TRON Lightcycle Run originally made its debut at Shanghai Disney, and the process to open it in Florida has been a long one. The attraction, which is apparently the fastest in the park, opens to the public on April 4th. “TRON: Ares,” the third film in the franchise, will reportedly star Jared Leto and have Joachim Rønning directing.

Oh, Batfleck. We were dubious at best when you were announced as Bruce Wayne. You did, for the most part, convince us you worked in THAT version of the Justice League. But oddly enough the thing we wanted to see the most was Ben Affleck DIRECT a film in that universe. This just in- DC Studios co-head James Gunn has confirmed he will direct the upcoming new Superman film, “Superman Legacy,” which he also wrote. We are sorry to report Disney+’s “Willow” series will not be getting a second season. Hailing from original film director Ron Howard, the continuation of the adventures of Willow premiered in 2022 to mixed reviews. Some fans found it to be a pretty great show- blending high fantasy elements with humor- while others didn’t care for some of the story choices. After what seems like an eternity, multi-Oscar-winner Guillermo del Toro is finally getting his dream project off the ground. Fans of GdT know of his love for Mary Shelly’s iconic and genre defining tome, “Frankenstein,” and his efforts to make his own film version for literally decades. It is very likely we’ll be seeing the return of filmmaker Zack Snyder to DC films. Or should we say, his addition to DC Studios, the newly launched DC Comics arm of Warner Bros.
