Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

This just in-you know that thing we all judge Hollywood for about there being no new ideas? What if we told you one major studio is looking to reboot a fairly high-profile series, merely 6 years after it ended? Okay sure, this isn’t as bad as the “Resident Evil” reboot timeline, but it ain’t great. “The Maze Runner” is reportedly being eyed for a hard reboot, with Jack Paglen penning the script. There really isn’t much to go on yet, but 20th Century Studios seems keen to do this. The original film trilogy took its cues from James Dashner’s “The…

While we don’t have a lot of information, we do know that Mattel’s upcoming live-action “Masters of the Universe” film has a release date. Amazon MGM has dated it for summer of 2026. There also isn’t like…you know…a cast yet. BUT, we do know Travis Knight (“Bumblebee”) will be helming, from a script by “Kubo and the Two Strings” writer Chris Butler.  An early logline for the film reads:“10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. We’ll be the first to admit we kind of forgot this film was happening. But Disney has released the first teaser for their upcoming film “Mufasa: The Lion King.” In it, Rafiki relays the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. This just in-that long-gestating film based on Disneyland’s iconic Space Mountain attraction is finally ready to launch. Okay, well, it at least has new writers now. According to the usual suspects, “Cowboy Bebop” showrunners Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec will pen the script. Originally, Joby Harold (“Obi-Wan Kenobi”) was set to write the film, but that has changed. The project was first announced back in 2020. The fan-favorite (at least in my household) ride first opened at Disneyland on January 15th, 1975. This story is developing…
