Normally, we’re not fans of such…tricks. Especially when it comes to such iconic and important films of cinema history. Like anything from Dr. George Miller. Likewise, the day to day of using X (formerly Twitter) has continued to become a hellscape the likes of which Pinhead would never- in all his sights to show us- allow to happen. But, a recent video came across my feed, and it took me by pleasant surprise. X user Vashi Nedomansky was given the idea by Todd Vaziri to color grade a classic scene from “Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior” (1982) to have…

There should be more love for Andrew McCarthy’s new documentary, “Brats.” Most of what I’m seeing about the docu is…disappointing. People complaining it isn’t the light, fluffy, slightly pointless featurette style retrospective we see so often. Instead, it’s an honest and heartfelt surface dive of someone who lived through a media-caused career shift. Don’t get me wrong, there is a big hit of 80s nostalgia, too. You’ll have that Leo-pointing-at-the-TV moment more than once. So if that’s an important thing for you, you’ll be fine. The BIG reason to watch this film is when McCarthy FINALLY confronts the journalist who…
This just in- “Star Trek: Picard” showrunner Terry Matalas has his next project all lined up. It’s yet another title with some sci-fi clout, the 1985 cult-classic film “Enemy Mine.” According to reports, the project will be for 20th Century Studios, and Matalas will write the script. No director or cast has been revealed yet. “Enemy Mine” was based on the Nebula Award-winning novella by Barry B. Longyear, first published in 1979. That story of course inspired the 1985 film starring Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr., and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” episode “Darmok.” We’ll let you know what…
Widely hailed as one of the greatest songs written of all time, “AFRICA” by Toto has reached a pretty big milestone. The 1982 banger just hit 1 billion views on YouTube. That’s billion with a b! The remastered HD version of the video was uploaded to the band’s official YouTube channel 11 years ago, and reached the impressive number earlier this week. “Africa” Lyrics I hear the drums echoing tonightBut she hears only whispers of some quiet conversationShe’s coming in, 12:30 flightThe moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation I stopped an old man along the wayHoping…
HBO is still really all-in on “Game of Thrones” stuff. The cabler-turned-streamer just handed down a season 3 renewal for spinoff series “House of the Dragon” ahead of season 2’s premiere. “George, Ryan, and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast, and crew, have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season of ‘HOUSE OF THE DRAGON,'” Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films said. “We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular season two, with a scope and scale that…
*sigh*Another day, another setback for Marvel Studios’ STILL NOT DONE YET “Blade” movie. According to multiple reports, director Yann Demange (“Lovecraft Country”) is no longer attached to the film. It was an amicable split, that apparently happened “sometime ago.” This is the second helmer the film has shed, as original director Bassam Tariq left in 2022. No word on who may replace Demange. As of right now, 2-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali is still set to star. Eric Pearson is reportedly writing a new script. “Blade” still has a slated release date of November 7th, 2025. But we’re pretty confident…
For the first time in 75 years, a major Hollywood studio is back in the business of owning a movie theater chain. (The only thing that came close was Netflix purchasing the iconic Egyptian Theater.)Sony Pictures has reportedly finalized a very quiet deal to acquire the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas chain. Alamo CEO Michael Kustermann will continue to run the chain, under a new division called Sony Pictures Experiences, that he’ll also oversee.“We are excited to make history with Sony Pictures Entertainment and have found the right home and partner for Alamo Drafthouse Cinema,” Kustermann said in a statement. “We were…

The live-action Netflix adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is headed towards season 2, full steam ahead. While we’ve already met the main cast of gaANG, one major member was missing. Season 2 of the series will introduce Toph Beifong, earthbender and badass. Netflix has announced a world-wide casting search to find the perfect actor to bring the character to life. They’re looking for someone who is blind, or vision-impaired. Obviously there are SEVERAL other characters from the ” Avatar” universe to make their appearances in the series, but Toph is someone we can’t WAIT to see in live-action. Season…
If you haven’t been watching Disney+ series “The Acolyte,” you really should be. A new chapter from the galaxy far, far away, turns out series star Amandla Stenberg has some serious violin chops. We knew they were a fan of the “Star Wars” franchise already (remember when they showed up for their casting announcement dressed as Queen Amidala at Celebration?!), but adding musical talent on top of that? Pretty awesome. During a recent stop by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Stenberg treated everyone to a performance of the iconic John Williams’ “Star Wars” theme. (They also performed the theme…
