Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has declined to accept the honor of the Presidential Medal of Freedom from outgoing President Donald Trump in a very public statement. You can read Belichick’s statement per ESPN here, or below: “Recently I was offered the opportunity to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which I was flattered by out of respect for what the honor represents and admiration for prior recipients. Subsequently, the tragic events of last week occurred and the decision has been made not to move forward with the award.Above all, I am an American citizen with great reverence for…

This “Being The Ricardos” idea is intriguing. Especially when you factor in Aaron Sorkin writing and directing a film about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz for Amazon. What is less interesting is the current pair rumored to be starring as Lucy and Ricky- Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem. Kidman is….a fine actress to be sure, but we can’t really see her as the iconic first lady of television comedy. And Bardem, who is a force of nature in all his roles, is Spanish rather than Cuban, which we think factors largely into casting for this role. Remember “Bewitched” in 2005?…

We are even more cautiously optimistic about CBS’s upcoming “Silence of the Lambs” spinoff tv series, “Clarice.” Focusing on the life of Agent Clarice Starling a year after the Buffalo Bill case, the series aims to dive into the background of the iconic Thomas Harris literary character brought to life in the Oscar-winning portrayal by Jodie Foster in Jonathan Demme’s 1991 film. If there’s one thing we love here at Nerdbot, it’s amazing fan-made things. Like this pretty darn awesome LEGO “The Mandalorian” stop-motion short made by forestfire101.Seriously. It looks good enough to have been done by Disney and LucasFilm, like the 2020 “Star Wars LEGO Holiday Special” released on Disney+. It also makes us wanna pick up our own LEGO Razor Crest (RIP), Baby Yoda aka Grogu, and other “Star Wars” sets. Check it out:

Fans the world over are still in a state of shock after the passing of Chadwick Boseman. The highly acclaimed actor passed away in September of 2020 after losing his battle with cancer, a fight which was kept as a very closely guarded secret. A question soon arose about whether or not the already-announced Marvel Studios “Black Panther” sequel would possibly recast Chadwick’s role as King T’Challa following Boseman’s death. How would Disney and Marvel Studios handle such a loss? Would they go full “Star Wars,” and CGI skin their star, or repurpose unused footage to tell the next chapter…

Sounds like fans of Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth needn’t worry about the state of their red and black clad antihero joining the Disney side of Marvel. If you’ll recall, with the wholesale purchase of Fox and it’s holdings, Disney also brought home the majority (minus Spider-Man and a few others) of the Marvel Comics characters, and plans to include them in future Marvel Cinematic Universe releases. Like “Deadpool 3,” apparently. Following yesterday’s press day for Disney+ MCU series “WandaVison,” there were assurances given by Kevin Feige that not only will “Deadpool 3” fix directly into the…
