Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

The world lost the best Batman in November of 2022 with the passing of actor Kevin Conroy. Having voiced the Dark Knight across numerous cartoons (“Batman: The Animated Series”) and video games, he racked up the most time as Bruce Wayne. Fans have agreed for decades that no one could top his performances. One fellow performer even went to far as to say they’d never voice their character again without him. That person? Why, none other than Mark Hamill, who voiced The Joker. This isn’t anything new, as Hamill declared it was ‘likely’ he wouldn’t do the character again following…

It’s been awhile since we had any kind of update on Taika Waititi’s live-action adaptation of “Akira.” Many outlets seemed to think the project was dead, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. During the press tour for his current theatrical release “Next Goal Wins,” Waititi offered what to some may be a surprising bit of intel. This live-action take on Katsuhiro Otomo’s original manga and (later 1988 anime) is being written by novelist Charles Yu (“Interior Chinatown”), and will apparently be taking it’s cues more from the manga than the iconic film. [The manga box set is pricey, but…

Oh, Tom Hardy. We love your unbridled fanboy enthusiasm for Eddie Brock and symbiote, Venom. You kind of single handedly kept what should have been a one-and-done film going, and created what is now a trilogy. Hardy is currently filming the third Sony Pictures Spider-Man-adjacent picture, which he co-wrote along with director Kelly Marcel. He’s also been kinda our best source of information about the project. Yesterday, Hardy posted this to his Instagram, seemingly giving “Venom 3” the title of “The Last Dance.” Possibly just something he likes to call it, or official title, you be the judge. V3N0M 3🔥🔥🔥❤️♠️The…

Ah yes, the Marvel Studios rumor du jour once again focuses on the upcoming “Fantastic Four” film. Long in the works, this highly anticipated reboot will finally see the First Family of Comics’ arrival in the MCU. Yes, we know, Reed Richards (John Krasinski) appeared in “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness,” but this will be everyone! Apparently, everyone’s favorite Gelfling princess Anya Taylor-Joy is being eyed for a very important role in the film- that of the Herald of Galactus! You know, the Silver Surfer! Before you start getting angry about a gender-bent character for the sake of…

We….are not sure how we feel about this. It’s bad enough that people are STILL CHEERING AND APPLAUDING when AMC theaters roll the ad featuring Nicole Kidman. Seriously, why? Is it just habit at this point? What are you actually cheering?? We were THERE when the first audience member stood up and saluted the ad. Because of this enduring….thing…AMC is teaming up with Loungefly to give the people what they want- a mini backpack inspired by Kidman’s outfit. You know the one; a grey impeccably tailored suit, pinstriped with silver. It honestly didn’t take long for cosplayers to pay homage…

What a strange time for lovers of 80s pop-rock duo Hall & Oats. News today is that Darryl Hall is suing longtime co-songwriter John Oates, and is also seeking a temporary restraining order. The suit was officially filed November 16th in Nashville, TN. Hall actually went so far as to bash Oates during a stop at Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast. “You think John Oates is my partner? … He’s my business partner. He’s not my creative partner. John and I are brothers, but we are not creative brothers,” Hall said. “We are business partners. We made records called Hall &…

This just in-according to THR who cites “sources,” actress Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”) will NOT be returning for “Scream 7.” The report indicates this decision was made “months” ago, and not a result of fellow “Scream” actress Melissa Barrera being fired from the Spyglass franchise. HOWEVER, Deadline says the exit has to do with the shooting schedule for “Wednesday” season 2, and was actually decided before the (now-ended) SAG-AFTRA strike began.Obviously this story is developing, and we’ll let you know what we hear…

Ah yes, the holidays. Food, family, and movies. Some films become a part of those festive celebrations, and perhaps none so much in modern times as “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Director Henry Selick has spoken recently about wanting to possibly revisit the property for a prequel, or even a sequel. But someone does NOT want that to happen- Tim Burton.Contrary to popular belief, Burton did NOT direct the flick. He did, however, co-write the story with Michael McDowell, as well as influencing much of the iconic art style. But, he REALLY isn’t interested in anything new with “Nightmare Before Christmas.”…

Maybe I’m one of the five people who still absolutely ADORES Valerie Perrine’s evil-henchwoman-with-a-heart from “Superman,” but hearing Eve Teschmacher is coming to James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman: Legacy” film is very exciting. Ms. Teschmacher is sidekick and possible girlfriend of Lex Luthor, but has had her own additional stories across various Superman comics for years. In Gunn’s film, she’ll be played by former Victoria Secret angel and actress, Sara Sampaio. Also announced today was another classic Superman character, the one and only Jimmy Olsen! Skyler Gisondo (“The Righteous Gemstones”) will play the Daily Planet’s best photographer. Yesterday, Nicholas Hoult was…
