We are pretty darn excited to hear that at long last, a sequel to Neill Blomkamp’s iconic “District 9” is coming! The gritty docu-take on an alien invasion flick came out of nowhere in 2009, and remains a touchstone of the modern genre film. In a Tweet, Blomkamp confirmed that he and co-writer Terri Tatchell. This just in- sounds like Ta-Nehisi Coates will be writing a brand-new take on “Superman” for Warner Bros. Pictures with JJ Abrams and Bad Robot producing. “To be invited into the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros., DC Films and Bad Robot is an honor,” said Coates in a statement to website Shadow and Act. “I look forward to meaningfully adding to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythic hero.” We will keep you updated on what we hear about this breaking story.
