Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Another “Game of Thrones” alum is looking to join the galaxy far far away, as a new report claims Indira Varma might be joining “Kenobi.” The live-action “Star Wars” spinoff series will center on Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi, and will star Ewan McGregor. Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in “Attack of the Clones,” and “Revenge of the Sith,” will return to play Darth Vader. Varma played Ellaria Sand of Dorne in “Game of Thrones,” the paramour of The Red Viper Prince Oberyn Martell, played by “The Mandalorian” star Pedro Pascal. So far, the casting report comes from Deadline, who…

Comic Con International, parent company of the world famous annual San Diego Comic Con, have just publicly announced the 2021 in-person event will not happen. We sorta figured this was likely to be the case, as the worldwide pandemic that caused a national shutdown roughly a year ago has still not reached an end. Following with last year’s “Comic Con At Home,” the industry standard event will once again go virtual. A three-day event of programming will take place July 23rd-25th, 2021. The November event as mentioned in SDCC’s statement is, at present, a mystery. We’ll keep you updated.

Hopefully by now you’ve seen the most recent episode of Disney+ series “WandaVision,” because this new Funko Pop Vinyl pre-order is VERY spoilery if not. Three new figures were just released by the toy giant- one that features a very monotone Vision (with a variant!), Monica Rambeau in her astronaut suit, and an Agatha Harkness in all her witchy glory. These three are available to pre-order via Entertainment Earth now, along with the other official “WandaVision” releases and goodies too. We love Kathryn Hahn’s wacky and frankly terrifying character Agatha, and really can’t wait to get our own Pop Vinyl of…

Pretty much as soon as Sam Raimi was announced as taking over the reigns on Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Doctor Strange 2,” we were all expecting a possible Bruce Campbell cameo. Seems pretty likely, right? Not like Campbell hasn’t shown up in a Raimi-directed Marvel Comics property live-action before, right? (He shows up in all 3 of Raimi’s “Spider-Man” films.) So, with that in mind, it seems highly likely we’ll be seeing the one and only Bruce Campbell in “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.” The only question is, as who?The “Evil Dead” star just posted an update to his…

I personally absolutely love “Star Trek: Voyager.” My heart belongs to “Deep Space Nine,” but “Voyager” is right up there. Recent revisits of the series by fans and critics alike during lockdown have seemingly brought up a wealth of new appreciation for the 4th live-action Trek series, which brings me to our bit of news.Just last night, 455 Films, the same group behind the incredible “Deep Space Nine” documentary “What We Left Behind” and “For the Love of Spock” launched a new crowdfunding campaign to get their “Voyager” documentary made.I am pleased to report that 7 hours in, over 175%…

Sure, teaching kids not to play with their food is an important lesson, but with the country nearing the year anniversary of lockdown prompted by a still-ongoing worldwide pandemic, maybe we should just have fun however we safely can? Like this absolutely ridiculous (officially licensed) Tetris waffle maker that’s suddenly making the rounds online. It is an actual real product. At present, the kitchen contraption which creates waffles in the shapes of Tetris pieces for staking and snacking, is only listed for purchase on one website. And, it’s only for wholesale. In the UK. So, no indication of when individuals might…

It’s the first of March, and that means new trailers and teases have been popping up right and left for upcoming projects. Like Netflix’s highly anticipated docu-drama about the college admissions scandal, “Operation Varsity Blues.” Hailing from Chris Smith and John Karmen (the pair behind of one two competition Fyre Fest documentaries), and the executive producers of Netflix’s “Tiger King,” “Operation Varsity Blues” has some dramatic moments recreated directly from FBI wiretaps. “Everything you’ve heard is true. But you haven’t heard everything. Using real conversations recreated from FBI wiretaps, the filmmaker behind Fyre brings you Operation Varsity Blues: The College…
