We’re still pretty damn excited for the upcoming “Mortal Kombat” reboot film from Warner Bros. Pictures. Those first images released last week were a pleasant surprise, but left some hardcore MK fans with questions. Primarily- who the heck is Lewis Tan’s character Cole Young? An official synopsis for the film has made its way online, and it sorta explains? “MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes…
We’re really hopeful that the upcoming “Young Rock” series on NBC about the life story of superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be as awesome as it sounds. Chronicling Johnson’s childhood to teen years, to his football and early wrestling career, as well as his family- this sitcom should be pretty great. You can check out the casting announcements for the show here. This morning, NBC released the first teaser for the series. While its only a 40 second-tease, we love it already: “Young Rock” is set to premiere on NBC on February 15th, 2021. Check local listings for time.
Parler, the conservative social media alternative being held partially responsible for the insurrection in Washington, DC on January 6th which was systematically shut down by various app stores and even their hosting parent Amazon- is back. Kinda. If you try to access the Parler website, you’ll see this screen. It also includes this frankly delusional message from Parler CEO John Matz: “Hello world, is this thing on? We believe privacy is paramount and free speech essential, especially on social media. Our aim has always been to provide a nonpartisan public square where individuals can enjoy and exercise their rights to…
There are a few films we’re still really hoping get some kind of at-home release during the ongoing pandemic, considering it doesn’t look like returning to movie theaters anytime soon. Things like “Dune,” “No Time To Die,” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” Directed by Jason Reitman, son of original “Ghostbusters” (and its sequel) director Ivan Reitman, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” was supposed to be a tentpole summer blockbuster for Sony Pictures. It began production in 2019 (shortly after the full cast was confirmed), and completed filming before the end of that year. Since then? It’s been shuttled around a bit. Originally set to release…
We want to start by saying this is a wonderful idea for the traffic-laden area of Paris around the Champs-Elysees and the iconic Arc du Triomphe. Imagine being able to experience such a beautiful location without the noise, delays and danger of cars! Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris, announced Sunday that the entire Champs-Elysees boulevard would be turned into an “extraordinary garden,” banning all cars and large vehicles. You can read the full announcement in the Journal du Dimanche here. This is to prepare the City of Lights for the 2024 summer Olympics, which Paris won the bid to host. There…
This is a rumor we’ve heard not infrequently since Netflix’s ownership rights of “Marvel’s Daredevil” starring Charlie Cox reverted to Disney. Is Charlie, the most recent person to portray the Man Without Fear, gonna show up in an upcoming Marvel Studios MCU title? This seems like a no-brainer, considering how popular the Netflix series (and subsequent “Marvel’s The Defenders”) was, and just how eager Cox is to pick up the batons again. The rumor has popped up again in conjunction with “Spider-Man 3,” which is currently filming. Mostly because ComicBook claims Cox was spotted on set, and therefor MUST be…
