Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

When someone tells you they’re going to spend 5 days in the Mojave Desert at a “Mad Max” themed festival, you just smile and nod, right? Who in their right mind would want to escape their normal day, wear scavenged torn and tattered clothing, and drive batshit crazy hulking cars and motorcycles in the middle of nowhere? Not to mention, live bands, DJs, every possible manner of bar and entertainment you can imagine?! Okay, the more we think about it, the more we absolutely want to go to Wasteland Weekend. 2021 marked the 11th year for the world-famous fully themed…

If you had told us a few years ago that we’d be getting a “The Suicide Squad” spinoff series focused on Peacemaker, we would’ve laughed at you. No, seriously. Sure, make your own “but you can’t see him” jokes, but after the success of WB’s “The Suicide Squad,” sure seems like Peacemaker is on a whole other level. This could be a good thing, could be a bad thing, but will absolutely be a thing we’ll probably watch. This morning, HBO Max released an…

We’ll admit it, we look forward to official gag reels a lot. Sometimes you sit and watch a film, and wonder which scenes were the crackups, who got the giggles the most, and what kind of oopses happened during production. “Saturday Night Live” returned this weekend for season 47 on NBC. Just…just take a minute to process that number. 47 seasons of Lorne Michaels’ sketch comedy show that has launched a thousand careers and continues to endure. We wanted to take a minute and highlight one of the sketches from the Owen Wilson-hosted episode. Billionaire “Star Trek” takes shots at Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, and Elon Musk in a pretty perfect headcanon way. Wilson is Bezos, in his ten-gallon cowboy hat, jaunting around space in his pretty phallic starship. It’s certainly worth a watch for the giggles you’ll get.”Saturday Night…
