Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

After a deadly incident a Texas music festival in which 8 people lost their lives, production company Live Nation and headliner Travis Scott are being sued. Called “a predictable tragedy” by festival attendee Manuel Souza, the suit alleges organizers ignored signs throughout the event of a possible problem.50,000 people attended the Houston event, which was named after an album of Scott’s. While the exact timeline is unclear, we do know the basics. When headliner Scott took the main stage, a large portion of the audience surged, causing a bigger-than-average human stampede. This resulted in hundreds (if not thousands) of bodies…

We’ll be seeing Fett in his solo series next month, “The Book of Boba…

We want to say outright that we’re not sure why Emilio Estevez, star of the original “The Mighty Ducks” film, can’t or won’t get the readily-available COVID-19 vaccine. Maybe he’s one of the very few who cannot, due to whatever reason medically. Or maybe he just doesn’t want to. We’re kind of hoping it’s the former reason. That said, Disney+ has opted not to renew Estevez’s contract for season 2 of “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” because of his vaccination status. Reports indicate a lot of “back and forth” with Estevez’s team on the subject, but ultimately came to this…

80s hair metal is a genre into itself. Toss in the hilarious Brian Baumgartner, some uber Christian lyrics, and you’ve got “Electric Jesus.” “When a flashy promoter (played by Brian Baumgartner, The Office) sells sound man Erik (Andrew Eakle) and his favorite local Christian hair metal band, 316, on the promise of a bus tour in the summer of 1986, their desire to “make Jesus famous” meets the complexities and confusion of personal ambition, religious conviction, youthful zeal, lifelong friendships, and first love.” You can even check out some of 316’s songs! Chris White writes and directs “Electric Jesus,” which is…

First and foremost, the filmmakers behind this project are maybe a little behind in the times. Assuming “kids these days” don’t understand the craziness that comes with getting a new video game system is dated. We say this, having watched the Nintendo Switch be unavailable for months, as well as the rollout of the PlayStation 5. Sure, not the same thing really with all the entertainment options around, but. Seriously. Kids understand better than we think. All that said, “8-Bit Christmas” looks to be one of those nostalgia bombs aimed at telling a story the entire family can at least…

This is perhaps some of the most interesting news we’re likely to get this week. Taika Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok,” “What We Do In The Shadows”) has a new film project in the works. He’ll be adapting Alejandro Jodorwosky and Moebius’s graphic novel, The Incal. Talk about some iconic artwork. One of our favorite things about The Incal is it includes A LOT of the concepts from Jodorowsky’s doomed but incredible “Dune” project that Moebius did the art for. There are aliens and humanoids, fantastical space opera elements, all the things kids go wild for. While we ourselves do not condone…
