Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

We’ve been talking a lot in the last few weeks about HBO Max’s “Harry Potter” 20th reunion special. “Return to Hogwarts” hit the streaming service on January 1st, and it’s absolutely worth watching. Especially if you’re more than a passing fan of the series. The one thing we DO want to point out though is despite reports to the contrary (which we ourselves ran, among pretty much every other outlet out there), problematic author JK Rowling does appear. True, it’s in interview segments dated 2019, but she is most assuredly there. It is interesting that Rowling’s segments are the only…

To honor the First Lady of Television, “Saturday Night Live” will be re-airing Betty White’s episode from 2010 tonight. Fans of White launched a campaign on Facebook in 2009, hoping to get “SNL” creator/producer Lorne Michaels’ attention. It worked! But also it’s worth nothing that Michaels said the show HAD tried to schedule White as a host 3 times previously.White was 88 when she filmed the episode, and longtime “SNL” alum like Tina Fey and Amy Pohler praised Betty’s professionalism. As well as her legendary quick wit and masterful performance style, no matter what the sketch. White passed away on…

HBO Max’s upcoming “Harry Potter” 20th reunion special is right around the corner, and the streaming service just released another featurette for “Return to Hogwarts.” Reuniting key cast from across all 8 films, the special is also omitting a pretty big component of the franchise- author JK Rowling. But we’re not mad about it, considering her frankly disgusting personal views on trans individuals. ANYHOW, on to the new featurette! Our favorite part? Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton twirling the lovely Hermione Granger actress Emma Watson. *heart eyes* “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Return to Hogwarts” hits HBO Max on New Year’s…

Just when you thought things couldn’t get weirder than Arby’s fries flavored vodka in 2021, here comes Lay’s potato chips. The scariest part? It sold out in MINUTES. Apparently we all need to get into the novelty distilling business. The Frito-Lay snack brand partnered with Eastside Distilling out of Portland, Oregon on the concoction. This potato vodka isn’t a run-of-the-mill spirit, either. Apparently, the potatoes used to create this vodka was a speciality variety, developed by the company back in 2018. This particular potato is also the subject of some debate, as a group of farmers in India have revoked…
