Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

But it has to be to get us to the next step in the saga. One standout scene everyone is…

It’s kind of big news today, folks. Sony Pictures has apparently signed a deal to exclusively distribute and market Legendary Pictures titles globally. (Well, minus in China. Legendary East will still be handling that specific market.) The news came this afternoon, and does NOT include major franchises like “Godzilla” and “Dune.”“It’s a rare opportunity to partner in this mutually beneficial way with true pros, who are completely aligned in our theatrical commitment and vision for this business,” Presidents of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group Josh Greenstein and Sanford Panitch said. “The creative brilliance and power of Legendary is huge and we look…

Fans of the classic 90s adventure series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” are still in shock after the news of Jason David Frank, who played Tommy the Green (and White) Ranger, passing away. Frank was a mainstay in the convention scene; hosting costume contests, martial arts workshops, and in general, a pretty cool guy to encounter as a fan. Director Amy Jo Johnson, who played Kimberly the Pink Ranger in the original series, has been tweeting a lot about Frank. The two played a couple on the series off and on, which first aired in 1993. Tommy of course was the…

Every so often, a gem of movie information surfaces in an unlikely place. It’s one of those things about why we’re kinda hoping execs at Twitter can collectively pull their heads out of Elon’s ass and save the platform. Sure, sometimes it’s a hellscape, but for the most part, it’s a place to find out things like how John Malkovich almost played The Vulture in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man 4.”According to a tweet from Ken Penders, Malkovich, who was never officially confirmed to be involved, went so far in the process as to have a complete body mold made for costume…

Some news- apparently cameras are rolling on the “Dune” prequel series about the Bene Gesserit sisterhood. Aptly titled “Dune: The Sisterhood,” the show is set in a timeline several thousands of years before the saga of Paul Atreides.Johan Renck, who is directing the first two episodes of the series, shared the filming news on Instagram. This is pretty exciting news for fans of the highly influential science fiction story created by Frank Herbert. Theoretically, we’ll be seeing the Bene Gesserit plant the seeds of the Missionaria Protectiva across the known universe, and maybe even the Butlerian Jihad! While we don’t…

The House of Mouse will see another changing of the guard with former CEO Bob Iger returning to the position, effective immediately. Chairman of the Board Susan Arnold made the news public November 20th with a statement. Iger will return for a contracted term of two years, ousting Bob Chapek, who took over for Iger in 2020.
