Disney Fans Celebrate Return of Bob Iger as CEO

The House of Mouse will see another changing of the guard with former CEO Bob Iger returning to the position, effective immediately. Chairman of the Board Susan Arnold made the news public November 20th with a statement.

Iger will return for a contracted term of two years, ousting Bob Chapek, who took over for Iger in 2020. Chapek has been a largely polarizing figure. Some die-hard Disney fans went so far as to launch a petition to fire him in 2021, and are now claiming victory for yesterday’s news.

News of Iger’s return spread pretty quickly. Disney stock was up 6% this morning as a result of the news.

Yeah, hopefully you’ll notice the above video is actually from when “Rise of the Resistance” opened. Lets enjoy the internet reacts to the news, though, because it’s fun!

Liza Minnelli has outlived Bob Iger's retirement. After less than a year he has returned as the Chief Executive Officer of the Walt Disney Company.

Bob Iger was sitting at home one night watching Wall-E with a nice glass of red in his home cinema. He then gets an alert on his phone "Disney CEO Bob Chapek Thinks Adults Don’t Want to Watch Animated Movies" and that's all it took.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
