Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

This just in-“Logan” helmer James Mangold may be directing a pretty amazing project for DC Studios. You may recall the big news with the WB comic book arm’s “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters” projects reveal from earlier this week. While there was a lot to be excited about, we’re REALLY interested in the new “Swamp Thing” movie.Mangold’s next release is a little film called “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” is reportedly in talks with DC Studios to helm the horror film. This actually makes sense, considering he tweeted this iconic image of Swamp Thing after the slate reveal. This…

If you’ve wanted more Amazons and Themyscira, we have some great news for you! One of the surprise announcements during DC Studios’ “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters” press conference was a Wonder Woman prequel series, all about Paradise Island and the Amazons. The story will actually take place BEFORE Diana’s birth, and give us an idea of how this society came about. Will we see the whole Queen Hippolyta Ares/Mars/Hercules thing? Diana’s brother, Jason? Or maybe even the Golden Age reason the Amazons wear those bracelets? Who knows! “This is a ‘Game of Thrones’-type story about Themyscira/Paradise Island, home of the…

Honestly, we’re a little surprised to read this quote from DC Studios co-head James Gunn. Sure, it COULD be true, but considering what a mess “The Flash” has been, how could it possibly be good? We’re speaking of course about Andy Muschietti’s much troubled DC Comics film starring Ezra Miller. Some of the issues plaguing the production don’t really mean it’ll be bad, but, we’re doubtful. During a major press conference to discuss the future of WB’s DC Studios, Gunn commented about the film. Not only is it still coming out, but Gunn said it is “probably one of the…

Yes, today is going to be VERY heavy on the DC Studios news. The reason? A press conference which laid out the first part of the relaunched DCEU. Called “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters,” think of this like how Marvel Studios does their phases. Co-heads of the newly launched DC Studios James Gunn and Peter Safran spoke about the big power players- Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing- as well as tackling questions. Like wtf with “Batgirl” and “The Flash.”“I saw the movie, and there are a lot of incredibly talented people in front of and behind the camera on…

All eyes turned to newly minted DC Studios co-heads Peter Safran and James Gunn yesterday. The reason? An official press conference to announce what’s coming for the WB comic book arm. Some of the news is pretty standard- upcoming films, ideas and characters- but other things were….surprising. The new DC Studios world order will kick off with a first part, called “Chapter 1: God and Monsters.” “It’s not the Gunnverse, it’s not,” Gunn told the assembled press. “It’s got to be all these different feels from all these different stories. That’s what makes it so fun. The stories are completely…

We are very sorry to share the news that American television icon Cindy Williams, best known as one half of “Laverne & Shirley” (among many other roles!) has passed away. She had a starring role in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Conversation” alongside Gene Hackman, George Lucas’ “American Graffiti” alongside Harrison Ford and Ron Howard, and would eventually team up with fellow gifted comedian Penny Marshall on the “Happy Days” spinoff series, “Laverne & Shirley.” Cindy’s children, Zak and Emily Hudson, released a statement about her passing:“The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that…

We almost started this piece by making some kind of stupid observation about how later films in sagas don’t usually get better. At least not until the “Mission: Impossible,” Matt Reeves’ “Apes,” and “John Wick” films. Just think about those series of movies for a second. They all started strong, sure- but how is it, with so many installments, they keep getting BETTER? Needless to say, they have been, and perhaps none so much as Chad Stahlski’s Keanu Reeves-starring “John Wick” series. The third film, “Parabellum,” had absolutely no business being as good as it was. Our expectations for “Chapter…

This just in-we know who will play the King of Pop in Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming biopic about the late Michael Jackson. It’s worth noting this film has the support of the Jackson family, something that really makes sense with the casting news. Jaafar Jackson, son of Jermaine Jackson and brother of Jermajesty Jackson, will play his uncle Michael. We assume Jaafar will handle a certain time period of Michael’s life (probably the “Thriller” era), but not much is known about the script yet. Fuqua will direct, from a script by John Logan. The other big question we’re sure lots of…

The much anticipated live-action series adaptation of popular manga/anime series “One Piece” will hit Netflix this year! After a pretty mixed reception for the “Cowboy Bebop” series, fans are nervous, to say the least. (We actually didn’t hate “Bebop,” and were very disappointed when Netflix cancelled it after just one season.) “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda has promised Netflix’s show will be “faithful to the fans who have supported One Piece for 20 years,” so hopefully that helps some. We do know who will star in the series. The Cast Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. LuffyEmily Rudd as NamiMackenyu Arata…
