Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Fans of the classic 90s adventure series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” are still in shock after the news of Jason David Frank, who played Tommy the Green (and White) Ranger, passing away. Frank was a mainstay in the convention scene; hosting costume contests, martial arts workshops, and in general, a pretty cool guy to encounter as a fan. Director Amy Jo Johnson, who played Kimberly the Pink Ranger in the original series, has been tweeting a lot about Frank. The two played a couple on the series off and on, which first aired in 1993. Tommy of course was the…

Every so often, a gem of movie information surfaces in an unlikely place. It’s one of those things about why we’re kinda hoping execs at Twitter can collectively pull their heads out of Elon’s ass and save the platform. Sure, sometimes it’s a hellscape, but for the most part, it’s a place to find out things like how John Malkovich almost played The Vulture in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man 4.”According to a tweet from Ken Penders, Malkovich, who was never officially confirmed to be involved, went so far in the process as to have a complete body mold made for costume…

Some news- apparently cameras are rolling on the “Dune” prequel series about the Bene Gesserit sisterhood. Aptly titled “Dune: The Sisterhood,” the show is set in a timeline several thousands of years before the saga of Paul Atreides.Johan Renck, who is directing the first two episodes of the series, shared the filming news on Instagram. This is pretty exciting news for fans of the highly influential science fiction story created by Frank Herbert. Theoretically, we’ll be seeing the Bene Gesserit plant the seeds of the Missionaria Protectiva across the known universe, and maybe even the Butlerian Jihad! While we don’t…

This *could* be on the brink of spoilers for the upcoming film “Indiana Jones 5,” so be warned. According to someone who knows- i.e. star Harrison Ford and director James Mangold- we’re gonna see some de-age technology being used in Indy’s 5th adventure. “This is the first time I’ve seen it where I believe it,” Ford told Empire Magazine. “It’s a little spooky. I don’t think I even want to know how it works, but it works. Doesn’t make me want to be young, though. I’m glad to have earned my age.”It was also revealed Harrison wore the original “Raiders” jacket to…

We’re really looking forward to James Mangold’s upcoming “Indiana Jones 5.” Maybe we’ll even get an actual title for the flick soon. Obviously the return of Harrison Ford is the most important thing here, but so too is the iconic look of the adventuring archeology professor. This brings us to Empire Magazine’s reveal of their two official covers, celebrating the upcoming film. The first is a beautifully illustrated poster which graces the cover of Empire’s subscriber’s January cover. It harkens to the classic adventurer films of the 1940s. The art is by Sam Hadley, exclusively for Empire. And of course,…

Sounds like the Spider-Man adjacent “Silk” project about the Marvel Comics character is finally moving forward again. After first being announced back in 2018, the project evolved from a film to a tv series. Turns out Angela Kang, showrunner for “The Walking Dead,” is taking over “Silk.” It will apparently begin filming soon, and will air on MGM+. First of all, what the heck is MGM+? It is what used to be EPIX, apparently. And while “Silk” will air first there, it will eventually hit Amazon after that. Considering Kang just signed a multi-year deal with Amazon, this makes sense.…
