Chris Pratt shares Hawaii Storms Destroyed ‘Jurassic World’ Set

Chris Pratt shared the update while playing a game with Super Mario Galaxy Movie co-star Charlie Day, in which the two looked back at memorable moments from their careers. He said to the present audience that he wanted to explain something about his motorcycle picture which showed him riding a motorcycle on the Jurassic World set. The tree had fallen on Owen’s bungalow because a storm came through his house yesterday.

He finished with a quick, compassionate “Sorry, Jason.”

Jason Morgan functions as Kualoa Ranch president while managing the family-owned business as its sixth-generation head for the private nature reserve located in O’ahu Hawaii. The ranch serves as a primary filming location for the original Jurassic Park movie which used its grounds for shooting. The ranch allows visitors to take a Jurassic Adventure Tour, which showcases authentic film sets from all three movies in the franchise.

The storms behind the destruction were no ordinary weather event. Hawaii experienced two consecutive Kona low storms during March which released more than 2 trillion gallons of water and produced a “rain bomb” that resulted in severe flooding. The first storm, which began on March 10, saw the island of Hawaii hit with 135.4 mph winds, with Maui also receiving up to 62 inches of rainfall.

The second storm from March 19 to March 23 resulted in 61 additional inches of rain which caused flooding across Moloka’i, West Maui, and O’ahu. The storms had already inflicted over 1 billion dollars in damages across Hawaii according to Governor Josh Green by March 20.

Pratt wasn’t the only celebrity dealing with the mess. He spoke out just a week after Jason Momoa and his family had to leave O’ahu to get away from the storms. “We got out of the North Shore, a lot of people have been asking. Our power went off. We’re safe for now, but there’s a lot of people who weren’t, so we’re sending all our love,” Momoa said on Instagram that they were safe at that moment, but many people needed help.

On March 30, Momoa returned to Instagram to announce his plans for a benefit concert which he would use to raise funds for flood relief efforts.

Universal Pictures has not provided any information about their plans to restore Owen Grady’s bungalow, which leaves the beloved set piece in a state of uncertainty. For franchise fans the loss represents a minor loss which connects to an ongoing disaster that affects the Hawaiian islands.
