“Here we are,” she thought. “With the world on fire and all of us so desperate to feel something, anything, that we keep falling through the beds of a million well-known strangers straight to the end of the world.” Just like that, with a bang, Daniel W. Wright is back with a collection of short stories all set in St. Louis, Missouri, entitled Tales From the Riverbank. Wright, a self-described son of a bluesman and hopeless romantic and poet by trade, gives us a rare treat with his prose. Tales is gritty, relatable, realistically heartbreaking, and occasionally even funny, as…

James Wan’s new hyped up horror flick “Malignant” has finally hit theaters and HBO Max! I’m sure you, like everyone else including myself, were positively dying to see this film (pun intended). Wan himself went on and on in interviews and in the most recent trailer, about how this one was going to be different. That he had changed his horror formula. But, did he? The Good “Malignant” is very original. I’m sure we can all agree that Hollywood has been lacking in the originality department for quite some time. In a time where it seems like every film is…
Ten years ago, the anime gods blessed us with “Madoka Magica,” and it was good. Really, really good. On the surface, “Madoka Magica” seemed to be just like any other magical girl series. Cute and filled with messages about the power of love and friendship. But it didn’t take long for the show to unveil its true nature. This was a game changer. This show was DARK. And people loved it! The show was so popular, it went on to spawn a manga series, movies, merch, and a mobile game series. Cue “Magia Record.” “Magia Record” started out as a…
Director James Wan (“Saw,” “The Conjuring”) is clearly taking inspiration from the Italian horrors of the 70s, and we are here for it! The trailer shows main character Madison, watching home videos of her childhood with her mother, and discussing an imaginary friend named Gabriel. Wan then comes in with commentary about switching up the horror formula. We then see Madison, terrified in her bed as a figure appears behind her. Is this Gabriel? We also get a glimpse of other terrifying scenes before the title flashes across the screen, in all its Giallo-style glory. Check out the new trailer…
