Joel Coen’s “Macbeth” is the visual representation of something wicked this way comes, and we are here for it.

The supporting actor categories at the Oscars tend to be a rather difficult one to predict. Not because those performers don’t deserve recognition; they most certainly do. But because what constitutes a supporting role is typically hard to quantify and ranges wildly as to what can and can’t be considered. The category can be as short as a few minutes like Anthony Hopkins in “Silence of the Lambs,” to as close to a leading role as you can get with Hailee Steinfeld in “True Grit.” The criteria makes it hard to make accurate predictions, but that’s show biz, baby! The…
Of all the categories I plan to predict this year, Best Actor is probably the most competitive. It’s also the hardest for me personally, because I am wrestling with who I think will be nominated and who I think deserves to be nominated. There were a lot of terrific performances this year, and whittling it down to a top 5 has proven to be very difficult. It’s a battle of logic vs. heart, so I’ll do my best to try and keep my list as balanced as possible. There are some definitive front runners that I think the critic community…
For the first time in a long time, I can confidently say that I have seen almost every film that can be considered a front runner for Best Picture in 2022. Unless Hollywood decides to sneak in a white savior biopic, a slavery black trauma-porn period piece, or a Hollywood era circle jerk- we’re in for a rather diverse group of Best Picture candidates. It may be too early to tell, but I think it could be fun to make predictions long before the nominees are announced. I think it could be fun to see how close I am when…
“Cobra Kai” season 4 once again ushers in the new year on a high note, and once again delivers another impeccable season.
Everything about “The Book of Boba Fett” just seems off, and never quite finds its footing to be a meaningful entrance into the Star Wars Universe.
It’s been a good year for television this year. With so many streaming services simultaneously creating their own, original content, we are spoiled for choice. 2021 treated us to a wide array of fascinating television, and sports some of the most diverse themes and casting a best of list could be comprised of. Everything from stand out Korean shows to Marvel Studios’ streaming dominance, there was a lot to enjoy this year. This list was actually harder to make than you would think. There was just so much to enjoy it was hard to whittle it down to a few,…
We’ve been spoiled for choice this year with television. Hell, Marvel Studios gave a 4 new shows in a single calendar year. And, we were given countless other new and continuing series that dazzled us consistently. Though there were a lot of successes, the year of television wasn’t exempt from bad entries. There were certainly some duds, and I have put together a short list of some my personal worsts that I watched this year. I know, I know. Another disclaimer. First, the list is only pulled from shows I actually got a chance to watch AND review. There were…
For being a kind of pandemic but not really a pandemic, semi repeat of 2020, this year actually gave us a ton of terrific films. We are living in a truly special age, where films that would otherwise go unseen for ages are given new life on streaming services, and that small window of theatrical release gives even more access to films than ever. Unfortunately, that’s not a good thing for every movie. And of course, no year would be complete without some duds. They weren’t all great, and there were some that stick out above the rest as being…
For as much as people swear up and down that I don’t like anything, I actually had a harder time building a best of list than my worst of one. Not because I couldn’t find films I enjoyed, but because I had too many that I enjoyed. For all the flops, disappointments, and lackluster franchise attempts, 2021 gave us some truly magical films. While I didn’t get a chance to view everything that came out (as that would be damn near impossible), I was able to catch a large majority of the award season front runners as well as all…
