As if I needed another reason to love all things British! The London-based event space Secret Cinema is unveiling their latest, fully immersive, live virtual event, and its absolutely marvelous looking. After having hosted previous experiences for “Back to the Future” and “Stranger Things,” this year’s theme is “Ghostbusters” in conjunction with the upcoming release of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” Although this is the first time the entertainment company has ever attempted something like this (namely such an immersive and virtual experience), there is a LOT to unpack and the experience looks to be one of a kind. The experience is appropriately…

Every time I sneak around through back alleys and rooftops, stalking my prey and looking for that perfect drop down assassination with no witnesses and a perfectly executed stealth kill, I always think about one thing: food. I’m not entirely sure “Assassin’s Creed” warrants it, but apparently there is a new culinary cookbook inspired by the popular game franchise. You know, for those of us who gotta finish all the side quests but wanna whip a quick mideval times turkey leg. Well, look no further gamers (or chefs now apparently). “The Culinary Codex” is set to release on December 14th,…

Netflix bingers rejoice! It seems that there is at least some official movement on more “Squid Game.” If you’ve been living under a rock, the Korean series has taken streaming by storm, becoming one of the most watched series on Netflix ever and thrusting its stars into the global spotlight. The internet has also been swept up in the “Squid Game” craze, with memes, fan pages, and even flooding the costume/cosplay scene for Halloween. Needless to say, fans simply can’t get enough of the murderous kid game show. Luckily for fans, we may not have to wonder much longer as…

This is probably the hardest list I’ve had to make during this Spooky Movie Time series. There are just simply too many great vampire films to knock it down to a top 5. It’s not that vamps are the best horror genre or don’t have their own built in tropes and cliches, but for whatever reason I find vampires to have the most interesting and versatile lore in the horror sub genres. You can have hive vamps and eternal vamps and funny vamps and tormented vamps and everything else in between. I guess if you dig through your film collection…

When we think of the now defunct Toys”R”Us, we very rarely think of hauntings, ghosts, mediums and seances. You read that right: a Toys”R”Us in Sunnyvale, CA had apparently been experiencing spooky things for decades, starting some time in the 1970s. Employees reported dolls randomly flying off the shelf, balls bouncing down aisles, cold breezes down their necks and chilling whispers of their name when they were alone. Some even went as far as to say they felt the touch of an invisible hand. It apparently got so bad and so frequent that they had to call in a medium…

There’s not denying that horror genre is dark and full of terrors. It’s also perhaps one of the most diverse genres in film, spanning across countless sub genres that constantly overlap or exist in a category all on its own. To be frank, the horror genre isn’t really my strong suit, as it is simply not a genre that appeals to me. It’s not that I don’t like a good scary movie, just that it’s not really my go to when it comes to enjoying films. That being said, it’s important to remember this as we start to look at…

Full disclosure: horror is one of my least favorite genres. Romcoms probably take the number one spot of films I actually enjoy and can be counted on one hand, but horror films simply don’t do much for me. That’s not even to say I don’t like them at all, just that I’m not the filmgoer who spent their adolescence scouring the horror section of Blockbuster seeking out the strangest, bloodiest, low budget gorefests. This is important to note because you’re probably going to have a knee jerk reaction as to why countless films horror fans love are absent from *my*…

While scrolling through the list of zombie flicks attempting to pick out my favorite, I was surprised to find how difficult picking a top 5 actually was. Considering how little I care for horror as a whole, the sub genre of flesh eating, reanimated monsters seems like it would be an easy one to skip and discredit. As it turns out, I’ve actually seen quite a bit of Zombie flicks, and even more shocking, I actually like a lot of them. So, this intro won’t require as many disclaimers as some of the other sub genres require. One thing I…
