Fresh off his Academy Award-winning short “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” it looks like Wes Anderson is setting out to build another A-list cast for his upcoming film, “The Phoenician Scheme.” The new movie will be a tale of father-daughter espionage. It is said to have a darker tone than audiences are used to seeing in Anderson’s previous works. “The Phoenician Scheme” recently wrapped filming in Germany, with Anderson directing from a script co-written with frequent collaborator Roman Coppola. Tom Waltz, co-creator of the comic book it’s based on, wants to see actress Judith Hoag return as April O’Neil. Hoag portrayed reporter April O’Neil in the 1990 live-action adaptation of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” Despite the movie’s rubber-masked hokiness, it holds a special nostalgic spot for many fans. Filmmaker Rian Johnson (“Star Wars: Episode VIII–The Last Jedi,” “Poker Face”) has confirmed his upcoming movie “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” has begun shooting. This will be the third installment of his hugely popular “Knives Out” film series.  On the morning of June 10th, Johnson posted an image to X (formally Twitter) of Daniel Craig, who plays the beloved detective Benoit Blanc, on set. In 2012, the animated series “Gravity Falls,” created by Alex Hirsch, premiered on Disney Channel. The show ran for two seasons with the second airing on Disney XD in 2015. Executive Vice President of Television Animation and Disney Branded Television Meredith Roberts recently hinted that the company is in talks about a revival. “You know, we’re in conversations with Alex. Just when you think philanthropist and pop-country legend Dolly Parton has no worlds left to concur, she announces an autobiographical musical, “Hello, I’m Dolly.” The title is based on the name of her first album, and a nod to the musical “Hello Dolly.” Parton will provide the score with a blend of new tunes and fan favorites. Widely considered to be one of the greatest films ever made, Akira Kurosawa‘s 1954 epic “Seven Samurai” was long overdue for a 4k restoration. At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the Toho Company debuted the long-awaited restoration, and now the newly restored film is getting a limited US theatrical release through Janus Films. “Seven Samurai” tells the tale of a sixteenth-century village that is exploited by bandits. Popular cinema chain Alamo Drafthouse has had to close six of its theaters. Five of these locations are in the company’s home state of Texas, with the sixth shuttered venue in Minnesota. These closures are due to bankruptcy by the franchised location’s owners, not the company itself declaring bankruptcy.  Locations Affected The five closed Texas locations are Richardson, Las Colinas, Lake Highlands, Dallas, and Denton. The Minnesota venue is located in Woodbury. These six theaters are operated by Two is One, One is None, LLC, which is filing for Chapter 7. Wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) is a hunter turned hunted in the first trailer for “The Killer’s Game.” It is directed by JJ Perry (“Day Shift”) from a script by James Coyne (“Puncture Wounds”), Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Dark Phoenix”), and Rand Ravich (“The Time Tunnel”). Filmmaker David Lynch (“Twin Peaks”) has dabbled in several ventures outside of celluloid like coffee, sportswear, and music. On June 5th, he announced he would be collaborating on a third album with singer/songwriter Chrystabell titled “Cellophane Memories.” Lynch also directs the dreamy video for the first single “Sublime Eternal Love.” “Cellophane Memories,” seeks to capture a dreamy sense of “loneliness and romance,” according to its press release.
