Author: Heath Andrews

Heath Andrews has been a student of pop culture ever since he found himself to be the only student in 3rd grade who regularly watched "Get Smart" on Nick-At-Nite. Ever since then he's been engrossed in way too much media with a growing collection of music, books, comics, TV on DVD box sets, and a video game collection that could rival a brick and mortar store. Prior to writing for Nerdbot he's written for Review You, MyAnimeList, and various advertising companies.

It was Netflix, in the streaming platform, with the board game adaptation; that’s who did it! To paraphrase the ending of a boardgame, that’s how you wrap up a game of the classic mystery title, Clue. Originally titled Cluedo in its native UK and published in 1949, the board game has lived on over the decades thanks to its combination of luck, logical deductions, and its premise of solving a murder. Doesn’t hurt that it had a cult classic film adaptation either. Well now it’s becoming a competition series as alluded to earlier in the paragraph, thanks to Netflix. According…

In a film world of sequels and remakes, original ideas aren’t exactly easy to come by. So, when something original comes along, it can be hard to know whether or not it will actually pick up any steam or traction. It looks like those fears are somewhat assuaged when it comes to adapting successful books, as Disney has acquired the film rights to the “Impossible Creatures” book series. This deal has author Katherine Rundell attached as well. An Oxford alum and professor, Rundell has received positive critical attention for a number of stories, beginning with the culture-shock story, “The Girl…

Many a story plot has been constructed around the hunt for buried or sunken treasure. While they may sound farfetched, sometimes there’s truth behind the fiction. Things have been buried or lost at sea that have considerable value. Granted, these discoveries aren’t always of value in general. Sometimes it’s just the historic significance of the find. Other times, its the kind of find you think about when you hear the words “sunken treasure,” like this shipwreck off the coast of Florida yeilded. The 1715 Fleet Society knows a lot about the history of treasure hunting off the coast of Florida…

But you can’t keep these Canadian music legends down, as the band is going to tour with a new drummer in tow. The assumption was that Rush was done as a live group since the passing of drummer and lyricist Neil Peart…

Fans of the “Goosebumps” franchise have seen some ups and downs. The Disney+ revival series was cancelled. And Tubi has an original R.L. Stine film adaptation coming to their streaming service later this month. Just like a good story, there are highs and lows, twists and turns. One we didn’t really expect was all episodes of the classic ’90s “Goosebumps” series for free on the new Scholastic TV app. You may remember Scholastic as that company that tried to bring book fairs and reading in general into your life as an elementary school student. They were a huge name at…

Remember that spurious lawsuit regarding the cover of the classic Nirvana album, “Nevermind?” The cover famously features a nude baby floating in the middle of the water, complete with its baby bits being visible. Thirty years after the fact, that baby decided to sue for child exploitation amongst other allegations. That lawsuit has been thrown out. Again. For the second time. Several elements of the lawsuit- brought by Spencer Elden the then-baby featured on the album cover- were a bit odd. Apparently the judge thought so too, specifically taking issue with how much time had elapsed between the picture being…

A fun fact that bird lovers don’t like to share is that birds can be an absolute nuisance in some cases. For example, their poop is full of uric acid that can eat away at metal structures, like bridges. That’s why you often see owl statues or the like on top of bridges, to scare away other birds. They can also be a nuisance at sporting events which is why SoFi stadium employs a falconer to deploy two Harris hawks to fly above the stadium. Or at least they did, before the birds were stolen. In what might be one…

When Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” was released in 2001, the universe of J.R. Tolkien exploded into the mainstream in a whole new way. The novels saw renewed interest, and even though the franchise had video games developed in the past, the new ones were actually quite good. Since then, we’ve seen games that have ranged from “Shadow of Mordor” to “The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.” It’s not too surprising then that more games have been in development, but it was still a shock to read one has quietly been brewing. Embracer…

We know, it’s not even into October yet as we’re writing this and we’re already talking about Christmas. Normally, we’d be shaking our heads in wonder as well, but this is different.
