“Over the Garden Wall” FINALLY Getting US Blu-Ray Release

In 2014, the world was treated to one of the greatest animated series in decades, if not the history of the medium. “Over the Garden Wall” was 10 episodes of wonder, fantasy, brotherhood, and adventure which left a lasting impact on the world of animation. With each episode being only around 10 to 11 minutes, it showcased what short form storytelling can do and has been one of those very rare pieces of media to not receive unnecessary follow-ups or sequels. If you haven’t seen it yet, you may want to wait until this spring when you can finally have the chance to own it on Blu-ray.

“Over the Garden Wall” – Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network has a complicated history with many of its programs and how they’ve distributed them. This became further complicated when they were owned by Warner Bros. Discovery after the two companies merged. And lord only knows what will happen if Netflix successfully acquires them. This has seen a lot of shows not get the love they deserve over the decades and “Over the Garden Wall” is no stranger to that. Sure, it got a DVD release back in 2015, but that was it for the United States only. (You can find it on Blu-ray in the UK and other European markets.)

Thanks to a listing on Barnes & Noble’s website, we know the series is available to pre-order on Blu-ray!

We’ll not only get “Over the Garden Wall” in much better quality, but we’ll also be seeing the first Cartoon Network original to get the Blu-ray treatment in a decade. With a voice cast that features Elijah Wood, Melanie Lynskey, Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry, John Cleese, and Chris Isaak just to name a few, the star-studded nature is not just for name’s sake, but to give character to the animation.

It was also a huge inspiration for Alex Hirsch, creator of “Gravity Falls.”

The B&N page doesn’t list any bonus features or details, but we have to believe there’s going to be something worthwhile on there. We’ll be sure to update you when we find out and hope that you’re as excited as we are for this. “Over the Garden Wall” Blu-ray is available to pre-order now, and is set to release April 7th, 2026.

In physical media news, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will be releasing "OVER THE GARDEN WALL" on Blu-ray on April 7, 2026, per a listing on Barnes and Noble's website. First Blu-ray release of a Cartoon Network original in 10 years. pic.twitter.com/MQVT6ZR0Ib
