Author: Heath Andrews

Heath Andrews has been a student of pop culture ever since he found himself to be the only student in 3rd grade who regularly watched "Get Smart" on Nick-At-Nite. Ever since then he's been engrossed in way too much media with a growing collection of music, books, comics, TV on DVD box sets, and a video game collection that could rival a brick and mortar store. Prior to writing for Nerdbot he's written for Review You, MyAnimeList, and various advertising companies.

After a lack of comedic showing on the big screen recently, we’re starting to see comedies come back in a meaningful way recently. “The Naked Gun” revival with Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson was very well received, and late last year we were happy to report the “Scary Movie” franchise was coming back. Though our elation in that was actually met more by the fact that the series would be returning to the hands of the Wayans Brothers, who originally got the series up and running with the first two installments. Now we have more reason to celebrate as original…

There are certain sensory things that are so emblematic of the fall that they’ve become inseparable with the season. The colors of orange, red, and yellow blending together like falling leaves, that certain crispness to the air when the breeze hits your face, and of course, the scent of pumpkin spice. The smell of the little gourd that could has been infused into so many things, so why not infuse it where it could matter the most, with your garbage bags? Hefty has you covered. Hefty cinnamon pumpkin spice ultra strong trash bags are available right now for a limited…

It looks like spooky season is about to be slightly less spooky this time around. Every year we are privy to seeing shows come and go, and in the age of streaming that seems to happen more than ever. We’ll see shows that garner strong interest in their first season, enough to get a second at least, and then that’s the end of the road. It’s especially frustrating to see this happen when the show actually has some promise, which is sadly the case with “Goosebumps.” You’d be hard pressed to find a child of the ’80s or ’90s that…

If the world were a fair and equitable place, “King of the Hill” would never have been cancelled. The animated comedy series from Mike Judge and Greg Daniels is easily one of the best television shows of all time, including live-action programs. Its original run from 1997 to 2009 is virtually unmatched in terms of the consistency of its quality. Other animated programs can’t lay claim to that feat. “South Park,” “The Simpsons,” and “Family Guy,” even with more seasons under their belts, really can’t claim that they put out 13 consecutive seasons of quality shows, but I dare you…

You know the old adage, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure?” Sometimes there’s truth to that. There’s no telling what some people will throw out that’s seemingly worth something much greater to another person. But in the pantheon of things that have been dumped in the trash, who would throw away a living, 20-foot long python? That’s the question Teresa Sanchez is asking after she found the snake outside an apartment complex. On Tuesday, August 5th, Sanchez was pulling into the Piero Apartment complex when she saw what looked like a large toy snake in the dumpster outside the…

William Shatner will always be known as Captain Kirk from “Star Trek,” but there’s a few other things in his filmography. He hosted the series “Rescue 911” for several years on CBS in addition to doing the narration for it. He was also the legendary attorney Denny Crane on the final season of “The Practice” and its spin-off, “Boston Legal.” And then there’s T.J. Hooker. From 1982 to 1986 Shatner played the police officer the show was named after, while hamming it up with his gritty, no-nonsense, law and order. It was very much a relic of its time but…

The world of “Harry Potter” adaptations has seen a lot of news lately. HBO has its upcoming series with notable names like Jon Lithgow taking on the role of Albus Dumbledore. But there’s another adaptation coming out later this year that has some big casting news of its own. This one might appeal to those who argue “the books are better” since it’s an audiobook adaptation of the series for Amazon’s Audible service. Audio books have taken on a form that goes beyond straight narration of the text. Some of them take on a more dramatic flair, more akin to…

In 2014, camera assistant Sarah Jones lost her life in an accident on the set of “Midnight Rider.” The accident was completely and totally preventable. She and the rest of the crew shooting that day put their trust in director Randall Miller, that they were cleared to shoot on a set of train tracks all day, with no fear of a train coming. But Miller never got that clearance. Due to Miller’s willful negligence, Jones lost her life. As part of Miller’s punishment, he was permanently expelled from the Director’s Guild of America (DGA). But now, he’s suing to get…

There is many a franchise waiting to be milked, exploited, or revitalized depending on how cynically you look at things. Hollywood will hardly let an intellectual property die if there’s anything left to be made from it, especially in today’s film and television industry. In fairness, sometimes this produces legitimately enjoyable things, take for example the “Wednesday” television series, or “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.” Actually, let’s specifically take the latter of those, because it’s success for Warner Bros. seems to be spearheading the desire to revitalize another horror-comedy franchise, “Gremlins.” The original 1984 film was a veritable who’s who of talent. It…

Nintendo makes headlines for a number of reasons. The popularity of the Switch 2, the omnipresence of Pokémon, new announcements for the franchise, and the legal department. That last one because the company is known for being aggressive for going after copyright and patent violations. “Palworld” and it’s alleged similarities to Pokémon comes to mind. Nintendo isn’t the only company to resort to litigation, because Sony has filed a lawsuit against Chinese gaming giant Tencent for alleged similarities to their “Horizon” games. Tencent is a huge company, to put it gently. Not only are they their own entity, but they…
