We are so pleased to report that the “Fresh Prince of BelAir” dramatic retelling series is a go at NBC’s streaming service Peacock! They’ve already ordered 2 seasons of it, as original series star Will Smith confirmed today!

In a Youtube video titled “I have news about that Bel-Air trailer….” Smith announces the 2-season order based on that now viral trailer of Morgan Cooper’s what-if reimagined series.

Cooper is attached to co-write, direct, and will also serve as a co-executive producer. Chris Collins will serve as showrunner, executive producer, and will in co-write with Cooper. Smith will executive produce via Westbrook Studios, along with Quincy Jones, Benny Medina, and original series creators Andy and Susan Borowitz. Miguel Melendez and Westbrook Studios’ Terence Carter will also executive produce. Westbrook Studios and Universal Television will produce. UTV was the studio behind the original show as well.

It looks like, from the announcement video Smith posted, the series is eyeing a 2021 release date ALREADY.

No word on casting yet, but we’ll certainly let you know what we hear.

The original “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” cast (including Smith, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, and Alfonso Ribeiro, and DJ Jazzy Jeff) are reuniting for a special on HBO Max, which is due to film this week, with a release date expected around Thanksgiving.

She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
