Millie Bobby Brown Wants to ‘Move On’ from “Stranger Things”

When Millie Bobby Brown started the first season of “Stranger Things,“ she was only 12 years old. It’s safe to assume neither her or anyone would’ve predict how massively successful the show would become. Then again, maybe we should have; after all, stranger things have happened, right? RIGHT? Anyway, seven years later, and Brown (now 19) is ready to move on from the show that brought her firmly into the light of stardom.

Brown plays the character of Eleven, a young girl with remarkably psychic powers and one hell of a tragic childhood. Since then, the actress’ career has taken off to include roles in the “Godzilla” MonsterVerse, as well as the “Enola Holmes” franchise. Television shoots can be fairly grueling work though, especially compared to films that generally shoot and wrap considerably faster. This time seems to be holding Brown back from taking on projects she’s more passionate about.

Brown is ready to move on from “Stranger Things,” comparing it to the end of high school. “When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year,” Brown said. “‘Let’s get out of here.’ ‘Stranger Things‘ takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”

As for the projects she wants to do that she’s more passionate about, she didn’t go into detail but coming up next is the film “The Electric State” co-starring Oscar winners Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan, and directed by the Russo Brothers.

“Stranger Things” will be airing its fifth and final season eventually. Production was halted due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The writer’s room was in full swing, but as the Duffer Brothers (Ross and Matt) said, writing does not end when filming begins. While Brown may not be expressing a lot of sentimentality about the series coming to a close, the same can’t be said for the legions of fans the show was earned since it began airing on Netflix. What’s next for Millie Bobby Brown?
