Arya Stark May Return for Jon Snow Spinoff Series

Fans of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” were thrown for a loop last week when rumors starting circulating about yet another spinoff series. This one, first semi-confirmed by Emilia Clarke, reportedly would center around Jon Snow, and star Kit Harrington. As we all recall, the final season of the landmark high fantasy series was poorly received by audiences and critics alike. Pairing that with Harrington’s very public struggles mental health (which resulted in the actor voluntarily checking himself into rehab), this seemed like maybe not the best idea on paper.

That is until author George R. R. Martin truly confirmed the project, agreeing with Clarke’s account that it was Harrington who pitched the idea. This changes things a bit, and we’re curious to see what he has in mind for the Targaryen Prince following the messy end of King’s Landing.

Apparently Harrington isn’t the only Stark willing to return to Westeros. One of the series many fans were hoping for following the end of “Game of Thrones” was a spinoff about the one and only Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams.

“Never say never,” Williams told People Magazine about a possible return to Arya Stark. “I’m still learning so much from fans that I meet … and they’re always recounting the parts of the show that they love, the parts of the show that were meaningful for them and the parts of Arya’s journey that were meaningful for them. I feel like I’m learning it all for the first time in a way right now. So I’m still kind of piecing together what I think it should be, what I think would make people happy, and what I think would be fulfilling as well, as an actor, to do some kind of transition. We can’t just do the same thing that we did — it’s got to be new. But what are the parts that we would want to take with us and what are the parts that we would do differently? So I think I’m still kind of discovering that.”

Sure, we’d love to see Arya reunite with her favorite relative. But…her character is strong enough to deserve her own show. Arya, off on her own Queen Nymeria adventure? Hell. Yes.

It isn’t just Williams’ game to return, either. Gwendoline Christie, who played Brienne of Tarth, is interested in Jon Snow’s series (or her own) as well.

“Brienne of Tarth is incredibly close to my heart, and I would relish any opportunity to revisit her. I believe she is enduring,” Christie told Newsweek. “I would love for that. I am really enjoying doing different things. I feel incredibly and genuinely honored and so fortunate to have had the opportunity to play that character that I have loved with all of my heart for all of that length of time, for that decade.”

Neither Harrington nor HBO has commented on the series yet. GRRM did reveal a working title for the project, “SNOW.” We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
