Apparently we’re facing a rising trend of “do this weird thing for money” from food brands. There’s Subway’s contest to change your name to “Subway” to win free sandwiches for life. And apparently Frito-Lay wants a piece of this pie. Though this contest is arguably more fun than legally changing your name.In celebration of one of the world’s most iconic — though perhaps not the greatest — haircuts, Frito-Lay is partnering with Floyd’s Barber Shop to celebrate the USA Mullet Championships.

Up until August 25th, Floyd’s Barbershop is offering 1,000 free bookings for haircuts to anyone asking for a Fritos Flow mullet. “Mullets are back! We’ve been seeing an uptick in the number of customers requesting them, and we want to embrace that. That’s why we’re so excited to team up with Fritos to help make it the hairstyle of the summer by providing free mullet cuts at all our locations every Friday in August,” Floyd’s Barbershop’s Senior Director of Creative and Technical Education Patrick Butler said.
Once a mullet has been procured, people have the potential to win $10,000 from the USA Mullet Championships. Alternatively, you can post pictures on social media to win a year’s supply of Fritos.

Just remember to tag your business-in-front-party-in-back locks with @officialfritos, #FritosFlow, #Sweepstakes. We also can’t help but notice that the shape of a mullet looks a little like the shape of the “F” in Fritos. Complete with swoosh. Which is probably not coincidence. And the beauty of this entire contest is that it’s just hair! If it turns out to be a bad idea, it’ll just grow back!
