McDonald’s Partners with Squishmallows for Happy Meal Toys

Fast food juggernaut McDonald’s has partnered with Squishmallows for a new line of Happy Meal toys. Jazwares, the company that makes the soft, squishy toys will be making 24 collectible versions that include exclusive and seasonal plush designs.

To make the partnership even sweeter, Universal Music Group will also be part of the deal. 14 of the 24 Squishmallows will come with a playlist that matches their personality, created by Universal! These playlists will be accessible via a QR code that comes with the toy. While there is no definitive word on which artists will be featured. Universal Music Group has worked with artists, like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Eagles, and ABBA. So it’s anyone’s guess who may be included on these playlists.

“In partnering with McDonald’s we are able to bring fans a 360-degree Squishmallows experience that includes exclusive digital playlists, and special edition Squishmallows that will create one of the most elevated Happy Meal programs to date,” Gerhard Runken, Senior Vice President of Brand & Marketing at Jazwares, said. “Happy Meals have featured so many iconic brands throughout the years, and this is a tremendous milestone for Squishmallows as we join forces with McDonald’s, one of the world’s most trusted and recognized brands.”

But collecting them all may be a challenge for some. Every participating McDonald’s restaurant will only receive 10 to 12 of the Squishmallows styles. So to get all 24 you’d need to hit up several McDonald’s since we apparently learned nothing from Beanie Babies.

While Squishmallows have only been around since 2017, they skyrocketed in popularity in 2020. And according to their parent company,  Kelley Toys, they have already won seven Toy of the Year awards. The soft plushes range in size from 3.5 to 24 inches and each one has a name and personality, including their hobbies/interests, which are listed on their tags

Currently, we still don’t know when this promotion will kick off. But it is expected to start sometime this summer.
