Strategies are a key part of Gran Turismo 7 and in order to succeed in long and grueling races, you need to plan it out carefully.
The outcome of a race can quickly change based on how players plan their strategies. So, it is necessary to plan your pitting strategies carefully. In order to understand how to plan pit strategies in Gran Turismo, here are a few pointers:
How to plan pit strategies in Gran Turismo 7:
1. Tire Type and Wear
Choosing your tire compound is one of the key aspects of planning out a strategy in Gran Turismo 7.
The type of tire compound you choose can make or break your race in seconds. So, it is essential to understand how quickly or slowly your tire is wearing.
Hard tires last the longest out of all three types of compounds. Soft tires last the least and Medium tires are essentially in the middle ground.
Then again, soft tires have the best grip to get quick lap times and the Hard tires have the least amount of grip.
Additionally, intermediate tires are used when the conditions are between extreme and light rain. Wets are used when the conditions are mainly extreme rain conditions.
Each race requires different tire compounds and strategies. So, you’ll have to plan them out according to the tire degradation meter in the HUD. Normally, when the meter is more than 50% red, then it is the ideal time to pit. Any later than that will make the car hard to control.
2. Fuel Mapping
Fuel Mapping is another crucial element in determining pit strategies in Gran Turismo 7. It essentially shows how much fuel your car is using and how many laps it will take to run out.
This can make or break a race as many players forget to pit in for fuel. The fuel consumption rate is different for every kind of car. For example, the Gr.1 and Gr.2 cars have a much larger tank that can help in carrying more fuel.
You can also control your fuel consumption rate by adjusting it from 1 to 5, where 1 is the most fuel consumption i.e. faster lap times and 5 is the least fuel consumption i.e. slower lap times.
Controlling fuel consumption rate is key to determining your pit strategies and in helping you win a race.
3. Understanding Your Opponents’ Strategies
While it is essential to know and understand your own strategies, it is also important to understand your opponents’ pit strategies as well. You’ll have to be aware of when they pit, what tire they are using, how much fuel their car has consumed etc. This can help you determine your own pit strategy as well.
4. Picking a specific car
Not all cars behave the same in Gran Turismo 7, so you’ll have to pick which car to use in which race if you are aiming for success.
Try out different cars and see whether they are a good fit for the race or not. While you are free to choose your car category in single-player races, you’ll need to pick specific cars for multiplayer races as well.
In order to understand which car to choose in multiplayer, look at what the best 20-30 players drove for their qualification laps. Then use that car and set a good lap as well.
With these tips and a bunch of practice, you’ll be a lot more successful in Gran Turismo 7!
