Things to Do Before You Give Birth

Giving birth, whether it’s your first or fourth child, can be an emotional journey. It might be wonderful to have a new baby, but it can also be taxing and daunting. Due to a lack of time, energy, or both, you may find formerly regular duties difficult, especially during the newborn era.

Here are 10 things to do before giving birth to help you savor those cherished, superficial newborn moments.

    1. Fill Prescriptions

If you or someone in your family who takes certain medications on a regular basis or knows you will be taking them in the future, get prescriptions filled as soon as possible before the baby arrives so you have them on hand.

Take stock of your medicine cabinet and stock up on any over-the-counter meds or first-aid supplies you or your family might require.

    2. Prepare All the Baby Gear

You should have certain items acquired, constructed, and tested before the baby arrives to ensure that they work and that you understand how to use them.

When it comes to baby gear, we’re staunch believers in the less is more mentality. A properly mounted car seat, a stroller by some well-known baby stroller manufacturer, and a safe place for the baby to sleep, such as a bassinet or cot, are the most vital necessities.

Other goods, such as an infant swing or changing tables, will need to be put together as well. Some items, such as an exersaucer, will not be used until the baby is older, but if you have the storage room, you may want to put everything together while you still have time.

    3. Make And Freeze Meals

Consider pre-making and freezing meals in the weeks preceding up to your due date so you aren’t scurrying for food or depending on the less nutritious packaged and take-out choices.

Friends and family may decide to carry meals to visit the baby, but this is not always the case.
There are numerous dishes that are simple to prepare and maybe frozen and reheated.

Expanding the recipe for something you’re already making for supper is an excellent route to stock your freezer. Half will be eaten that night, and the other half will be frozen for later.

    4. Make Arrangements For Your Pet Family

Another thing to consider is making sure your pet will be adequately cared for when the baby arrives. This may not be necessary for everyone, but it is for many who have cats, dogs, or fish.

You can ensure that your pet is well taken care of by stocking up on food, treats, toys, aquarium filter foam bulk, and any prescriptions they may be taking, such as monthly flea and tick prevention. If necessary, arrange for someone to stay with them or transport them to a boarding facility while you are in the hospital.

    5. Purchase Household Essentials

The last thing you want to happen when searching for your new baby is to run out of toilet paper. Before the baby arrives, paper towels, safe cleaning supplies, stockpile toilet paper, and shampoo plus soap are examples of personal care products that you will be using frequently.

If bulk purchasing isn’t your thing, consider subscription services like Amazon’s Subscribe & Save to automate as much as possible. You can save money by scheduling monthly or six-month deliveries. You may always amend or cancel your delivery schedule, so don’t worry.

    6. Get a head start on baby-proofing your home

This won’t be necessary until the baby is older and more mobile, but brainstorming ideas and developing to-do lists can’t hurt. Many parents also believe that if you can afford it, you should start babyproofing as soon as possible.

In the blink of an eye, your kid might be mobile and attempting to get into everything ranging from sharp knives in the kitchen to your hidden stuff like home cash safe.

    7. Check Your Preventative Care Status

It may appear like all of your healthcare has been focused on pregnancy in the months leading up to your baby’s arrival. However, you should take care of other basic healthcare activities before the baby is born.

Preventative care can be obtained by visiting the dentist and optometrist. If you need dental treatment, new glasses, or contacts, now is the time to get them done without worrying about carrying a newborn with you.

    8. Allow yourself some alone time

The time you have before your kid arrives is significant for more than just checking things off a list. It is critical to set aside time for yourself, both alone and with your partner. You’ll be entirely dedicated to your new child, yet you may long for some alone time or a quiet moment with your spouse. Take advantage of time first before the baby arrives to engage in your favorite hobbies.

    Conclusion

We understand that planning for a baby may be both thrilling and daunting. We want your baby experience to be as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. So, while you’re juggling your commitments, make sure to check the above list for the perfect time before and after.
