Tubi has just released the official trailer for the thriller Stepfather. The upcoming film is directed by Chris Stokes (I Didn’t Do It) and stars Taye Diggs (Another Man’s Wife).
Stepfather follows Darnell (Diggs), who has spent years joining and then erradicating any family he feels isn’t perfect. He thinks he may have finally found what he is looking for in his new wife, Asia (Tamar Braxton), and her daughters. That is, until his deadly pattern is uncovered, and getting rid of them won’t be as simple as he planned.
While this isn’t being promoted as a remake of The Stepfather from 1987, the similarities are striking. However, Tubi’s version will have more kids involved, which could mean a higher body count. And to be fair, there is hardly a claim to the idea of a killer or evil step-parent, considering plenty of media have already utilized the trope. It was Disney’s bread and butter for a long time.
The film also stars Kalani Jules (Find Me in the Void), Jessica Jarrell (Hijacked), Janeline Hayes (Girl’s Trip), Dante Brown (Dash and Lily), Troy Brookins (Stargirl), TJ Shaw (Babysplitters), Koda Kalani Beschen (Chemical Sundown), and Elizabeth Dantus (The Sweetest Heir).
