Paramount Wins Bidding War For “The Midnight Library” Film Adapation

In 2020, Matt Haig’s novel The Midnight Library hit shelves and soon became a bestseller. And, like most popular books, it’s now being adapted into a film. Paramount recently won the bidding war over the upcoming feature at the Cannes film market.

The film is directed by Garth Davis (Foe) and stars Florence Pugh (Thunderbolts*).

The Midnight Library tells the story of Nora Seed, who finds herself in a magical library. One where she can see the many different outcomes her life choices could have had. However, her decisions soon begin to jeopardize her safety and the library itself. Pugh is reportedly attached to play the lead.

Pugh will produce alongside Graham Broadbent and Pete Czernin of Blueprint, and Anita Overland. Blueprint’s Ben Knight and Diarmuid McKeown will executive produce, with Anna Marsh, Ron Halpern, and Dan MacRae for StudioCanal. StudioCanal will distribute the film in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Benelux, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Paramount will act as distributor for the rest of the world.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about The Midnight Library film adaptation as the project develops.
