To honor the First Lady of Television, “Saturday Night Live” will be re-airing Betty White‘s episode from 2010 tonight. Fans of White launched a campaign on Facebook in 2009, hoping to get “SNL” creator/producer Lorne Michaels‘ attention.
It worked! But also it’s worth nothing that Michaels said the show HAD tried to schedule White as a host 3 times previously.
White was 88 when she filmed the episode, and longtime “SNL” alum like Tina Fey and Amy Pohler praised Betty’s professionalism. As well as her legendary quick wit and masterful performance style, no matter what the sketch.
White passed away on December 31st, 2021, at the wonderful age of 99 years young. Plans to go ahead with the release of the “Betty White 100th Birthday” film were announced this morning.
We highly suggest tuning in to watch it tonight. Season 35 episode 21 is available anytime on NBC’s streaming app Peacock.
