“Berserk” Art Exhibit to Honor Kentaro Miura Beginning in Japan

Earlier this year the manga community lost one of the greats. Kentaro Miura, creator of manga franchise “Berserk,” passed away in May, leaving the future of the long running dark fantasy uncertain.

Starting his art career at a young age, Miura was known for his complex, sweeping india ink visuals honed over a lifetime. His most famous creation, “Berserk,” became a seminal example of adult manga and formed an inspiration for countless media in the decades to come.

Now, the beloved mangaka will be honored with an art exhibition taking place in Tokyo’s Sunshine City later this year. Entitled Large Berserk Exhibition: Kentaro Miura 32 Years of Painting, and containing hundreds of original sketches, art, manuscripts, and other artifacts from the long history of “Berserk,” the exhibit will detail in chronological order the adventures of Guts and his companions on their seemingly now endless quest for revenge.

Following Miura’s passing, one of the creator’s assistants stated on social media that he and the rest of the “Berserk” team will “do their best.” Whether he is referring to their emotional state following Miura’s passing, or with the unfinished story left behind, was not clear.
