On Wednesdays, we wait impatiently for Amazon Prime Video to drop a “The Wheel of Time” tease. This morning we were immediately excited by the pre-10am tease, a notable quote of Moiraine’s warder, al’Lan Mandragoran.

To stand against the Shadow so long as iron is hard and stone abides…

Shortly thereafter, a super quick clip of the warrior and Malkieri heir played by Daniel Henney was released.

Based on the novels created by Robert Jordan (which were later finished by Brandon Sanderson following Jordan’s death), this epic high fantasy adventure has been a favorite of the literary community since it’s first publishing in 1990.

Rafe Judkins, self professed and often proven HUGE fan of the source material is showrunning “The Wheel of Time” for Amazon. He has continually been our best source of information about the show.

Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) leads the cast as Moiraine, the Aes Sedai character who acts as a mentor and guide to her younger charges. Daniel Henney (Big Hero 6) as al’Lan Mandragoran, Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) as Tam Al’Thor, Álvaro Morte (Money Heist) as Logain Ablar, Hammed Animashaun (Black Mirror) as Loial, Alexandre Willaume (Tomb Raider) as Thom Merrilin, and Johann Myers (The Medallion) as Padan Fain. Josha Stradowski (Just Friends) will be Rand Al’Thor, Marcus Rutherford (Obey) is Perrin Aybara, Zoë Robins (The Killian Curse) is Nynaeve, Barney Harris (Billionaire Boys Club) is Mat Cauthon, and Madeleine Madden (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) is Egwene Al’Vere.

Maria Doyle Kennedy (Orphan Black) will be playing Illa (which may or may not be Lanfear?!), Narinder Samra will be Raen, and Daryl McCormack will be Aram the Tinker.

Needless to say, WE’RE READY FOR A TRAILER ALREADY!

We’ll let you know what we hear about a possible release date for the series, and any additional casting information.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
