Today Variety announced that Disney Plus is working on a new Star Wars series for the platform. Leslye Headland, the co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer of the critically-acclaimed Netflix series “Russian Doll”, will be leading the new series.
Details of the plot are being kept under wraps but what they have told us is that it will be a female centered show set in a different era than what we’ve seen previously in the Star Wars Universe.
Since the Mandalorian has been doing so well for the platform it would make sense that they would try and branch out into more Star Wars shows. We are also waiting for more news considering the Obi-Wan series which was most recently found a new writer for the series. Once they start back up productions on shows they will be filming that as well as starting on Mandalorian season 3 which is already in pre-production.
Now with this new show addition they will have three Star Wars series on the platform that are original series. That’s not including the original shows like Clone Wars or Rebels.
